If haven't gotten the game to run, it might be helpful to paste more of the log. You can make a text file with "./vegastrike > output.txt 2>&1"

Re: don't works in ubuntu 9.10
i suggest deleting any ~/.vegastrike directory you may have in your home dir. Then rerunning vssetup and then vegastrike again. That and doing what ace mentioned.

Re: don't works in ubuntu 9.10
I've also suffered some segmentation faults in other distros. I couldn't reproduce them consistently, but if you play long enough you find them.
I would recommend running VS routinely under gdb so that when the segfaults do happen a backtrace can be extracted:

Code: Select all

Re: don't works in ubuntu 9.10
I have the exact same problem...maybe its a debian thing(noob assumption ) since i'm running debian squeeze and ubuntu is debian based...
i tried what you posted before..removed the .vegastrike from home and ran vsetup again...no luck
Thought it could be a dependency problem and checked them comparing with the debian sid package (wich is broken...thats why i installed from rar...).
The menu pops up when i run the vegastrike command..when i start campaign it starts to build and just when the first glimpse of the hangar appears, the game crashes. In the console i used to start the game i get:

i even tried to see if upgrading my testing packges from libc 2.10.2-2 (testing) to 2.10.2-5 (sid) could solve the problem...it didn't .
i added a complete log file with all the info...most of it looks like normal game info, to me it looked like the end was the conflictive part but i wouldn't know for sure...i'm a learning gnu/linux noob
thx
