Strange rings behavior.

Post by ounis »

I think that a brown planet should cover part of the rings, but she didn't.
Look at the screen:

What's going on?

I can't see the image but i can guess what it looks like.

Usually this is caused by one of a few things.

1. The planet is mistakenly orbiting at too fast of a rate and the rings are playing a futile game of catch-up.

2. Graphics issue that could be card specific or a shader issue (i really dont know how much our new shaders actually do anymore). Basically the planets and rings become so huge that they dont get occluded correctly and draws are not culled. This allows you to see the back face of objects along with the front face or in the case of rings, the entire ring instead of the it being blocked by the planet.

3. You're using a revision that has a bug.

Unfortunately, i haven't used 0.5.0 since it was released. I have no idea if it contained such bugs. Many fixes to various graphics glitches have been made since then. Hopefully you'll see a new release soon.
