0.4: insane turn speed in sickle

Post by Tisephone »

I bought a sickle.blank. It seems basically unflyable - the slightest mouse movement or keyboard tap turns you half-circle.

I also noticed "MEDIUM" typoed as "MEDUIUM" while exploring the unit files, but fixed it and don't recall if it was the sickle or some other ship.

Hacked my credits and bought a Progeny. Also way too fast. It could be just my control settings... but they're the defaults, and the Llama is nice and relaxed. :/

I thought the patch was for the AI, but I'll try it.

PreDIT: Thanks :)

Okay, things seem slightly better with the keyboard, but it's still awfully tricky to fly. The mouse is unusable. (This is using a savegame made before applying the patch, though.)

Oops, wrong patch. I didn't even notice that one. Maybe it should be announced in the news.

we upped the version number because of a jumping crash--it's important everyone gets the patch to 0.4.1

(All this is in windows 0.4.1)

Ancestor also has unmanageable pitch/yaw control.

It seems like the AI now handles ships poorly; I frequently see AI enemies sitting in one spot spinning like mad. Its pretty funny to see a Mule flipping end for end at 3200 RPM. Redeemers & Plowshares do this as well, I'm thinking it might be related to the AI becoming indecicive and trying to target two objects simultaniously.

could you paste what's in the file
units/factions/upgrades/mult_turn_balancer/mult_turn_balancer
The above package did not come with such a file or directory.

Everything is cool for me. My new Pacifier is comfortably lethargic and I haven't seen any spinning ships around. But I used the patch, not the full 0.4.1 package.

I'd test the 0.4.0 installer, but it seems that the SF.net mirriors are broken. (They insist on sending me a file thats truncated at the 75552K mark)

I'm looking at the data4.x ViewCVS and that particular upgrade exists in the CVS tree, but somehow something bad occured when the 0.4.1 package was built, or so it seems.

Try applying the patch to your current install. It might work.

has anyone tried

Post by hellcatv »

has anyone tried with the full 0.4.1 package and has had this problem?

it shouldn't do anything if the file isn't there...it should just not upgrade the turning (desirably)

ok I got a windows box and tested it...yep that file mult_turn_balancer is missing *again*
somehow it didn't compress
I just posted a patch...if someone has bandwidth to kill please try to download the new 0.4.1
others can just download the patch to 0.4.1B for windows
