The ice planet is compressed using DXT5 (with an alpha channel)... while most other bases are using DXT1 (which has a boolean transparency).

At 1024x1024, it might be one of the biggest DXT5 textures we have in the game, though I don't understand why your drivers would be having trouble with that one.

Are there any other textures that you have seen this behavior in? Or just the ice planet?

Just the ice planet.
The dodo's image looks hideous (like a grey blob of pixelated ground meat), but I think that's because it's a 64x64 image or something- not drivers...

So this is a driver issue?

So this is a driver issue?
Most likely lost count of the bugs we have found in various video drivers over the years  even stops the game from running at times and one of the first pieces of advice we give new users is check your video drivers.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Yes although it may not make a diff if it is a bug on Nvidia's side  and in that case we pack up the things for a formal bug report to Nvidia i don't see it with the current Linux driver for my 6800gt can't boot my XP drive ATM so can't report on that side.

Enjoy the Choice :)

I just checked and I'm quite sure my drivers are all up-do-date...
I guess the only way to view it is to change it to a dtx1...
which is odd since I've been able to view and make dtx5's in other games... :?
