Cross/target box only visible in HUD for units within 32km

Post by huginn »

Switched today to current svn HEAD (12377) and started from scratch with the campaign.

Something changed between 12308 and 12377 with the cross/target box indicating a target in the HUD. It is not there anymore for far away targets.

Targets only appear augmented with a cross/target box in the HUD if they are within a distance of max. 32~33 km. Either the cross appears then (for ships) or the target box (for big units like bases).

I thought that might be related to the scanner, so I installed the best one (Hawkeye ZX-86). Did not have any effect, though.

Did I miss something?

may be finally enforcing sensor range  that's the only thing i can think of off the top anything mentioned in the commit log.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Thanks.

Enforcing the sensor range sounds reasonable.
Edit
(But don't the different scanners have different ranges? The observed behavior is independent of model, though)

On the other hand, I'm missing the cross as a pure navigational aid indicating the position of a target no matter how far away. It makes reaching a distant target manually difficult.

The scanner knows this position, (I see a plus in the forward/aft scanner display, I think, here the range comes in) and could display the target in the HUD as well. I still get the arrow, if the target is not in the viewscreen. So, probably the cross got lost somehow.
