Graphic Gliches - Post Here.

Post by Coragem »

I have found some graphic gliches if anyone has other issues, we could post all of them here.
1- Too many mission objectives Oveylay with the new HUD information in SVN. i think the new info could go to the left side of the screen (more natural, since right side is target data)
Image

2 - Is this model supposed to be like this?
Image
if i find other issues ill post in this topic.

Two other things...
First is not a glitch but just a visibiliti issue, when near a sun, all white texts and the Center Aim cant be seen. also the jumpnode wireframe was white dont know why.

Image

Second, i got this Unable to load error im the HUD, guess this is not normal?

That load fail is most likely a typo in the units.csv file in the name for the unit or the path to the resource files.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Any idea if you could post the stderr.txt or stdout.txt logs?

Runing over linux so no .logs to post, and i was playing full screen at the time so didnt copy the terminal output. Gonna make a script to run VS and direct terminal to a file later.
I was in some Rlaan system, with lots of cap ships in it, like 100+
Not at home during the weekend so, i´ll try to reproduce it later.

ignore those fat lines (image capture problem) - the problem is with the ship (no reflecting effects [shaders?])
Image

This is how it should look like.

Whats up with this koala? (same here - ignore fat lines)

And more to come (need to capture them).

Is there any mention of the shaders not compiling in stdout or stderr the planet in the background also seems to be wrong as for Image capture there is a screenshot key "i" there are saved to your .vegastrike/textures folder just resize them for posting.

Im in linux so I dont think I have stdout and stderr... anyway those glitches seem to appear after some play. sometimes closing VS and starting again solves the problem (only to have it come again after awhile. Sometimes restarting system will do. Oh heres another glitch. This happens with most stars I visit

Image

Getting near seems to *solve* the problem, while getting away brings it back. It is supposed to be an (almost) solid pink color, but as I move the camera, there are these white things that move as I move the camera. Again, ignore those fat lines (I think its compiz messing with my capture image program. I prefer to use it rather than "i" since they go as .jpg directly to my pictures folder, and I have to press print screen so it seems easier)

MC707,

You might want to register in Imageshack to have a nice place to upload and link your images.

Try updating the NVIDIA drivers, to most recent version, and Downgrading to a older version to see if problems persist.

I'm having a problem with the Rlaan Shizu 3d Cockpit, but i think it's the video drivers, i'll post a screen shot later.

I think its compiz messing with my capture image program.
As a general rule most 3d games that run full screen do not get along with compiz it's SDL actually that is used to output to the X server that gets confused  so either turn off the eye candy or run in a window then see if the problem persists. If you run in a window you can capture just the active window with "alt+Print Screen" IIRC.Now as to getting stdout and stderr they there just not being captured as stdout/stderr are something that Linux inherited from Unix  so start he game from a terminal with

Code: Select all

./vegastrike 1>vsout 2>vserr
Enjoy the Choice :)

I am registered at Imageshack. I did link the images from imageshack.

The drivers trick you said dont work

3d cockpit?! How?

I am running in a window, believe it or not. Alt-tab works neatly with window mode, and strangely enough the window fits perfectly (I cant see the window, its just like fullscreen). Oh, if I try to run in fullscreen, I will have the mouse problem I told in another post.

Ok so I start with the code you typed in. Where would I find stdout.txt/stderr.txt? (in the same terminal?)

In the folder that you ran the game from or in your Home folders root and there won't be a txt extension as Linux does not really use them file types are determined by the first byte in the file it has acquired the nick-name of the magic byte.

ok so if I just search with the search feature "stdout" and "stderr", it will find two txt files, right? and if I find them, where do I post them?

The file names to search for are vsout and vserr as i named them in that command with no .txt extension.
As where to to post them here of course the info on shaders will be near the start of the file "fp failed to compile" where fp means fragment program which is what shaders are formally called.

Ok when I find those problems I'll post them. In the mean time, I think I have yet another graphical glitch which is caused every single time (resolution related). I'll take a snapshot and post it in awhile. btw thx for your help.
EDIT: Got snapshot. As always, ignore fat lines. They do not appear in actual game.

In a smaller resolution, words fit fine. in my native resolution (1440x900) words dont fit into the datapad frame.

I think this one has to do with resolution incompatibility, too. (1440x900)

Notice how the fat merchant doesn't fit with the background.

The first one is kinda common i believe as that particular screen needs some work on it's code to make it resolution independent. The second looks like the merchants bottom half is not being drawn it's a separate sprite so that bar's definition file may be wrong, the sitting fixers have a top and bottom to accommodate the table they sit at.
