Hi everyone,
I know I have been a bit prolific on the forum today, but this new problem is too big to ignore.
I started up ./vegastrike in konsole, and waited for the game to start up.I then selected Campain and waited for it to load. After it fiinished loading,I went to the shipyard and upgraded the lama.I then went to the bar to see if thee were any people offering missions. If there wasn't,I went back and selected a mission from the mission computer. The graphice are normal at that stage.
When I launched my ship,to my horror outer space is white!!but Atlantis seemed to be fine

I had never experienced this problem before when I was running Kubuntu Hardy Heron Alpha2,using the nvidia 169.07 drivers from their website.
I have attached my xorg.conf.txt,I have used the same settings for my driver previously using nvidia-xconfig.

Hi loki1950,
I followed yor advice and uninstalled the nvidia 169.07 driver, and then installed the 100.14.19 driver.I also got the latest updates for my distribution and got the latest version of the svn version of vegastrke.I also did a clean compile.
Sadly,I'm still getting the same problem ,outer space is all white!
I have attached my xorg.conf.txt,config.log.txt and the last lines of the output when I started ./vegastrike here:
I hope somebody can help me with this one.
Regards,
STEVE555

@STEVE could you check near the beginning of the game output for where it is setting the screen size and depth it should be around where the openGL extensions are listed because if it is not a driver error then lets dig further
ps can you edit your original post so the screen shots show

Well i think i have found the culprit but why it's happening and how to fix it escapes me ATM
i believe that VSImage is trying to read the background texture and failing so no black background at all.It may be your hardware config or a bug in VSImage there a few more failures as well thx for the log.
Enjoy the Choice

JPEG parameter struct mismatch: library thinks size is 464, caller expects 460
VSImage FAILURE! - trying graceful recovery... (while reading "backgrounds/black_up.bmp")

fsck the FS that data4.x sits on. Then repull the data4.x directory and try again. If you know exactly what images are failing, repull just those. Something sounds like it got corrupted. vsimage hasn't changed since you last ran vs and it worked, so either the data is corrupt or missing or a variable not known is at work.

Hi everyone,
I have some good news,I did a clean install of Kubuntu Hardy Heron, and re-installed everything else that I needed.I also did a fresh checkout with KDESVN and compiled the latest version of vegastrike. After I did all of that,it is working fine now
I decided to use the latest nvidia 169.07 driver, there are a couple of niggly rendering
problems, but I can live with them until nvidia release their new drivers, which I don't think not too long coming,as I"ve usually observed nvidia release their drivers every couple of months.
I would like to thank everyone that has tried to help me.
