Can't edit game at ALL

Whenever i download VS i can never EVER edit it in ANY way. Its as if its set in stone. the only exception is i can change the wep .xml. plz help!

I voted yes despite being a developer because it is pretty hard (but not impossible) in my experience to modify certain things...

However in reality, this is an open source game with complete access to code and everything. If you ask questions, someone will tell you how to edit that part of the game.

Anyway, to edit weapons stats is really simple... it's all in "weapon_list.xml", and they are just XML tags.

Unit stats are all in the spreadsheet called "units.csv" in the units folder.
the first line of save game files allow you to change your credits.

okay then how would i add weps to ships or turrets, stuff like that?

So is this a new weapon or turret if so it has to be defined in the format that the engine wants the basics of that you can find here http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/wiki/ ... ke_Weapons have a look also get yourself a good text editor notepad and writepad are kinda limited i like Notepad++ for it's syntax highlighting and tabbed interface helps you in that most of the the files you will be editing or creating have structure that it supports.there is also a pdf somewhere that is more general if you can't find it i can e-mail it to you.
