Saving not problem-free (ships) ?

Post by Str »

Hello to all firstly :D great game :)

It it just me or is saving a ship not as problem-free as it seems?

First my ship (llama.begin) began to roll to the left really slowly.... to the right was no problem... I bought a new Overdrive and a Basic Repair and the Problem was gone! I had also some other "long time damages"...

And now, suddenly i have 6 Overdrives on my ship! One Overdrive 3 which is in use, and 5 overdrive 5 which arent useable nor sellable nor wahtever... they are just "there"...

i've also separated the code in my ships file:
Overdrive;15085.764648;1;4.000000;4.000000;1.000000;1.000000;;false}{mult_overdrive06;upgrades/
Overdrive;128000.000000;5;18.000000;18.000000;1.000000;1.000000;;true}{reactor06;upgrades/Reactors/
is it safe to just remove the second line? i mead, the overdrive doesn't do anything (just i am not be able to buy another overdrive instead of my overdrive 3 which is "under" level 6 -.-) but i dont want such a thing on my ship...

hm... i've tried to use this csv editor, but if i want to open a file i get

"Index Out of Range[Col 128 Row 1]"

or, with the windows version and wine, "Failed to load file" or so....

I use a GNU/Linux System, Debian Testing, the svn revision 11716 (not sure, maybe some "revision versions" less)...

i'll try some of the other csv editors announced in Developer Tools & User Utilities section

:D it worked =) just that i'd to use "Unicode UTF8" instead of just "Unicode"... maybe this was renamed in OpenOffice?

Anyway, i was able to remove the overdrives, and it loaded fine..

I've seen this lines in my Llama.begin.csv:
Shield_Back_Bottom_Right
<- here's nothing
Shield_Back_Top_Right
600.000000
Shield_Front_Top_Right
600.000000
Shield_Front_Bottom_Right
600.000000
it this intented to behave this way?^^

And some offtopic question:
As I understood, the economy is dynamic: But if i trade Industrial Gems from a mining station to an oceanic planet, the prices seems to be very static.. the reasons could be, that theire are no "NPC Traders", so that the prices could change: I'm at the moment the only Person, how could change the prices when i'm trading; am i'm right?

Anyway, thanks :)

The economy is spoused to be dynamic but is a work in progress and not in full operation ATM so muddle through.

as for the bottom right shield not sure have a look at the Llama.blank in the units folder to see if it is the same if not then the llama.begin may have been corrupted at some point.

hm...

in the units.csv none of the shield_x_y_z variables "contain a number" (not sure how to say that)...

But if I look at the ~/.vegastrike/serialized_xml/player files, which seem to contain every ship i've ever used even if it was just in use for 5 minutes (testing with not-so-much money ^_^)... I looked through this files, and a dodo which i've used for 5 minutes has:
Shield_Back_Bottom_Right

Shield_Back_Top_Right
75.000000
Shield_Front_Top_Right
75.000000
Shield_Front_Bottom_Right
75.000000
In my own Savegames, my Dostoevsky also behaves this way, but my llama's and my dostoevsky's shields work pretty good... and because the dodo was just about 5 minutes in use -->

sorry for my bad english :/
