cloaking question

ok so i got a schrodinger but it didnt come with a cloaking device. i suppose since it wasnt milspec or anything i have to buy one. what is the key to activate it and where is the indicate since i dont see a cloaking incidator on the schrodinger HUD

interesing. it works for the schrodinger but i cant see the difference between the schrodingers csv file in my ships folder and the goddards csv that makes it happen

The difference is "can_cloak" and some other cloak-related things.

Just open it with OpenOffice, or your texteditor, and compare the first lines position of "can_cloak" and the corresponding value at the same position a line below. Same goes for the other cloak-related things, dont know, theres about 3 or 4 values that need change.
For this i really recommend OpenOffice, or you might want to try the tool someone mentioned in the other thread. Makes the whole file more readable

yeah something to line up the colums would be nice, thing is. linux or at least ubuntu has a form of open office called openoffice.org. and i cant get it to sort out the data as i want

When you open the csv, you *should* have a dialogue first, asking you for separators, for example. use kommas there.

The "upgrade" stuff wont get separated there, because its actually a value-stuff, belonging to one of the "fields" in the first line, i think.
But as for the can_cloak and other cloak-related things, it works fine for me.

the openoffice.org spread sheet does that. only i didnt think to tell it to seperate via ,'s and ;'s

Don't use semicolons.

Vega Strike uses semicolons for data structures and braces {} for arrays of data structures, such as weapons that might be like {LIGHT;Laser;0;0}{LIGHT_MISSILE;Dumbfire;0;0}
and you don't want to split that data up by semicolons or else the columns won't line up.

Great clues. I landed on an aera fighter base that had 2 cloaking devices available for sale to somebody? However when I clicked "cloaking device" the listing remained light brown and no BUY option came up. I followed your suggestions and changed can_clock to 1, clock_min to 0.3, cloak rate to 0.1, cloak energy to 1, cloak glass to FALSE for my Pacifier and Admonisher ships. I still could not BUY a clock but my ships were already CLOAKED, thanks to the csv changes(also I deleted some DEPRECATED FUNCIONALITY garbage, KOOL). I tried different combinations like can_cloak to 1 and the rest of the cloaking options set to my ships' defauts. That gave me a cloak device that didn't work on my ships and I was still unable to buy a cloaking device at the aera fighter barracks (faction rating of 90).
Has anybody playing Beta 0.5.0 been able to buy a cloaking device for any ship, anywhere ? If so please let curious me know HOW U DID IT !!!!
Vega Strike Beta is a super great game to play - I enjoyed modifying the tables(X-Cobol programmer from the 90s) and look forward to learning C ++ and doing more... Thanks for providing the living wityh SO MUCH FUN !!!!!!!!

Cobol eh! last i used it was in the early 70's

on IBM 360 DOS our PDP 8e assembler was written in Cobol
