Armament suggestions?

Hello!
First of all thanks for such a great game.
I'm not very experienced, yet and I wonder which weapons I should mount on my ships.
I have my beginner's llama and do not intend to upgrade it much.
With my first real money I bought a Dostoevsky, got some Heavy Ion Beams and Autotracking.
But there are so many other things that sound interesting, like Disruptor beams and suchlike.
So, can anyone tell me which is their preferred armament?
a) for a Dostoevsky
b) a Goddard

Oh, and which ship would you suggest for Bounty Hunting, which one for Trading?

Hi,

buy the goddard - you do not need any other ship.

It is big enough for high profit trading, and deadly enough to blow away everybody else.

Buy autotracking, armor enhancement, repair droid/repair ai, and the maneuver enhancing stuff (forgot the name).

Fill up Goddard with 'penetrator' (Aeran milspec bolt) - it is very effective. 10-12 penetrators is enough almost against all enemy ships (exclude capships of course).
But for me Goddard is not prefferable for skirmish - he have not enough speed and maneveurability. For battle against 20-30 fighters I prefer rlaan's heavy fighter 'Taizong'.
But your game - your choice. :)
