insane aera

Post by providence2010 »

Hi, I love this game and have gotten pretty good at it, but one thing really bothers me. Whenever I start really succeeding and getting where I want to in the game, Aerans and one other faction really really really start hating me. I don't mean that if the time provides they'll make sure to squash me, I mean they'll drop everything they're doing to come kill me. I once had 2 Aeran ships and 2 luddite ships drop their own firefight just to hate me some more. I also cannot make any jumps without being ambushed at the other end of the jump by less than 2 Aeran ships. Not only this, but these ships will chase me forever. I once jumped 6 systems with 3 Aerans on my tail, and eventually they caught up and killed me. The Uln hate me as well and will drop everything just to kill me because they caught me with contraband once. As is, my relations with the Aerans are -60 and with the Uln it's -6 (no idea how such a low value makes me such a desirable target.) If anyone knows how to deal with this, please give me some ideas.

The Uln will pretty much hate you anyway, but I've never had trouble with the Aera. As long as you avoid them at first, their relation will become positive towards you. I have 4 factions currently hating me. Pirates, Luddites, Forsaken, and Uln. The Dgn are kind of iffy towards me (they seem to distust everyone but the Shapers).
I've stopped playing. I'm waiting for a new release.

I've kicked the MMO habit for now, but if I maintain enough money for an EVE-Online subscription, I'll be gone again.

and you could say some really kind things (hit '1' a lot of times, about 100X per ship :P ), they start to love you, and the relation with their faction will go up eventually.

Try to get good relationship with the aera.
You can really have a good time doing cargo missions and trading in aera space when every non-aera ship that appears is being attacked by the aera.

Hi,

if you would kill Pirates, everybody would love you.

Aera hate Pirates more than anything else, so killing Pirates makes you an aera-friend.

okay, that's probably a good idea. I thought the aera were just the all around bad guys that you can't be friends with, but it seems to work anyway. I did go back to an earlier portion of the game and bought a pacifier and severely loaded it down, but I could still only get 2 to 3 aeras a go without them killing me. I'm having a really hard time getting the right weapons to work though, is there anything that allows me to cycle which missiles I'll fire? I don't want to waste my cap ship killers on some stupid luddite.

Default keyboard config. "w" will cycle between your various missile systems. You can have all missiles turned on or each one individually.

If you have 6 missile slots, and you have 3 missile type loaded into two slots each you can have all 6 active or one of the three types active at any given time. This is in contrast to your "energy" weapons which will cycle through all of the different combinations of types.

thanks for the help. I'm having a bit of trouble beefing my relationship up with the aera since they still drop whatever they're doing to kill me, and since they attempt to follow me (at least I'm pretty sure, cause I have at least 2 seperate encounters per jump with them) but I have a save point earlier on before I became a merc and when my frienship rating with the aera was only -60 (it's -100 right now).

Hi,

get autotarget, and aera will make 'poof'. If you have a Goddard, activate the turrets ((hitting o twice), and the aera won't even get close, before they make 'poof'.

I think that if you want the Aera to cool off you will need to do one of a few possible things.

A) Hit 1 a whole helluva lot. (You can pause and it will still work)
B) Get a cloaking device and just ignore them. (Eventually they will cool off, but I think the more of them you have killed, the longer it will take.)
C) Perform missions for them whenever you can, especially rescue missions. (this one will decrease your friendship towards others)
I've stopped playing. I'm waiting for a new release.

I found that hitting "1" is helpful only with _current_ ship (or flightgroup) that try to attack you. Every others of same faction continue harrasing me, especially Uln's - they more insane that Aera, in my game. :) For example: I have Aera rating -68 and Uln rating -2 and near Aera ships (100 - 200 km from me) is just ignore me but more far from me Uln's (200 - 300 km) starting to attacks.

Uln are aggressive by nature, so they'll attack you unless you're in very friendly terms with them, which would make you hated by everyone else.

So I guess you'll have to shoot down the Uln, which is rather easy anyway.

The 1 won't help you when they've engaged you, as you say, since it will only make at most one or two of them stop attacking you. But if you flee, and come back later, all of them will be friendlier.

Not absolutely. I talk to Uln's flightgroup (mule + dodo. May be transport and escort?) once, pressing "1" a lot, and they stop their attacks. But when I jump out, they follow me and start attack again. :)

Anyway, there is little disbalance in faction's behavior, IMHO.

But at all - game is VERY impressive! :)

Odd. Perhaps you didn't press 1 enough times.

The idea is to keep hitting 1 until the Uln are green in your nav screen.

(That is, go to the nav computer, select Info, then Mission, it will list your reps)

If you stop before they're green, then they'll stop attacking (since that's the quickest effect the 1s have) but they'll still regard you as their enemy. So, when you jump back, they'll attack you. You have to take the reps to the green zone for a permanent change.

But that may (I'm not sure whether the 1s avoid that or not) damage your rep to other factions, since almost everyone hates the Uln.

Perhaps. I was stop pressing "1" when they was yellow mark in my radar. Thanks.

But it is very stupid for Uln - trying to attack a heavy Lancelot fighter on Mule or Dodo. Aera light fighter prefer to escape in that situation or trying to call reinforcements ('Mayday! Mayday!' on screen - and much more fighters will appear soon). :) AI feature?

Not sure. But could be. After all, the Uln are described as "immature" (another way of saying not very bright).

hey, it's me again, I just started over (even at -60 the aera drop everything to kill me so it's impossible to get anywhere near them without beinslaughtered). Yes, I know auto attacking turrets help against the aera, I seriously decked out a pacified just before they got to -100 with me, so then they started sending more people for me, and I just couldn't get out of a system anymore. So, now I've got a plowshare and am trying to do jobs for the aera and the rlaan (mostly rlaan because aera jobs are few and far between and I have no idea where any of there systems are). However, the aera yet again went straight to hating me. I tried killing lots and lots and lots of pirates (since that supposedly makes everyone happy) but it only made my rating among the aera drop 20 points, (I've only seen two aera ships as well, and yet again they just drop everything to kill me). Should I just not leave cephid until I have a goddard or some freakishly mean ship that's even better than a pacifier? And where do you buy the cloacking device?

Strange. Last time I play my Aera's rating was balanced between -70 and -100 (because, I think, I was make a lot of bounty missions against luddities) but I was see NO any Aeran ships in Cephid-17... and in other systems their ships was NOT to drop everything to catch me.

Cloacking device you may find in Research station. Also you may find there nice 'Repair AI' thing. :)

And err... is the Pacifier with full equipment of heavy weapon not enough against any light/medium fighter at all? I never had any problems on my Pacifier/Lancelot...

I'm back and my adventures in the rlaan sector have proved quite fruitful. I got the lighter of their two heavy fighters loaded down to milspec, and it blasts anything. My only problem is when I try to get in close to mules to blast them I get too close to my torpedo  . Oh well, rlaan ships and weapons are amazing, and I can't wait to get my hands on a cloaking device to add to my ships awesomeness.

new update, although I now have the cloaking device in hand the aera are still being pretty insane. In fact, everybody is probably being insane. Ever since I started taking missions back in the home system (cephid 17) against mainly luddites, everyone, including pirates, has started to love me, except the aera, who I managed to keep at -60 until one luddite mission. In fact, until I reached -100 I didn't encounter any aera. Now, all groups except the uln are at plus 100 with the exception of the aera and luddites. Another strange thing the aera do is to switch places with the luddites when I take merc jobs against luddites. Kinda strange, but maybe the factions can align themselves of their own accord actively during the game, explaining the difference in the appearance of different factions in different games, seeing as I haven't seen any uln yet (I saw tons, and hated tons in my last one).

Try to make 'bounty missions' against pirates - this could raise up your rating for Aera. As well as for others factions too (in my case - except Uln, but in my game they really strange).

Across the many systems I travel I haven't seen a bounty mission for any pirates in the past three days. I had tons of them before, but they're almost non-existant now. Oh well, the aera are being insane again and have found away to shoot me without seeing me (a.k.a. the cloaking device doesn't work anymore and it doesn't say it's broken). Also, the aera are doing this wierd thing where when they fly they will shoot forward about an inch onscreen and then to the side about half an inch in a zig zag fashion. This is viewed from anywhere in between 6Km and 1700Km. Any comments or suggestions?

May be they are shooting to something else? I was shoot down once by accidently fire from huge Aera vessel (like Leonidas?) while it was a great battle between Aeran and Confeds. :)
