Getting missiles around pd turrets?

Right now my ship has a rather large battery of capship missiles. This works great when killing of aera fighters and cargo transports at extreme range, but as soon as an aera cruiser or capital escort shows up I have to go to my main guns. This works well until more than ten show up, because then I have to dive into a gravity well. This way they have to chase me the old fashion way instead of specing in right next to me and using their turrets.

So now to my question. Does anyone know of a way of hitting enemy sub capitals and capitals with missiles?

Thanks

I use dumbfires. Point-and-blow + nice range.

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm using kineticmissiles right now. They're kind of slow and they don't look like much according to their stats, but they somehow blow the agasicles I'm fighting to bits at over 1000 km. I'm trying to figure out how exactly capship missiles are meant to be used (I really wish they had spec drives like they're supposed to).

My favorite trick is to load my Pacifier with a mix of torpedoes and Cluster Bombs. Those daisy cutters don't usually take out the turret i'm targeting, but they make the tracking radars go insane.
Plus I shoot out the turrets one by one with Jackhammers.
Jink, line up a target, pop the turret, turn & burn to avoid getting fried by the surviving turrets, repeat as necessary.

I knew that subunits of ships could be targeted by pressing 'b' but I didn't realize turrets were actually capable of being hit. Thanks for the idea.

For best results, you'll want to 'Save Target' by targeting the ship & hitting alt 1-9 then after you blow each turret restore the main target by hitting control 1-9.
eg moving in on an Uln Gleaner (my favorite victim) alt 2 stores the target
b targets a turret
take out the turret
now when the turret is destroyed, your targeting computer picks something random
hit control 2 to restore the target
bang away at it for about 30 seconds before targeting another turret (otherwise when you hit b again the cussed targeting computer again picks something random)
repeat as necessary

I avoid using 1 to save target 'cause I've accidentally hit shift instead of control before & blown myself up. ! or shift 1 is the self destruct for some stupid reason.
