Browsing, I noticed people talking about multiple ships and transferring ships from one location to the other. I can't find the thread though.
Does this really work in vegastrike and if yes, how? I was thinking of buying a plowshare, although the fact that it is overloaded with full cargo kind of puts me off .. I guess I have a choice ..

Re: Multiple ships?
When you own more than one ship(only one of each type allowed) an entry called "MY FLEET" shows up at the Ship Merchant screen from there you can have any one of them transported to you no charge if it is in system and 6000 cr if in an other system and BTW the starting ship is unsellable although a few guys have succeeded and screwed up there save file.

Re: Multiple ships?
Also, there are other ways to use more than one ship. Buy it as cargo (on that screen you see ships without detailed preview) and jettison it.
Or approach base/planet, press EjectKey, land in your escape pod, buy new ship, launch and you can see your old ship.
You can switch between ships (with SwitchControl key) and they are all in your flightgroup, so they hear and sometimes obey your orders. AI (almost unpredictable at best and batshit insane at worst) controls them when you don't, so forget any coordination when you aren't nearby and active. And AI does not continues to execute your action when you leave control. I tried to use this option to have Mule + shuttle. That is, he followed me, i landed... and when i left base with goods, Mule was already in atmosphere... on some planet on another side of that system.
Still, if your main ship has good radar and your escorts are beam-only with best repair-bot, perhaps this can work.

Re: Multiple ships?
I don't find the switchControl key in the config, is the command="SwitchControl" ?
I'm trying out an escort mission right now, and i need to know how to get the freighter to follow me.
Nevermind, it follows me now after i got real close to it.

Re: Multiple ships?
It was changed for the release because a key was needed for sending a text message in multi-player here is the binding as it was in the 0.4.3 release
so find a free key or use a other that don't use.
Enjoy the Choice
Code: Select all
<bind key="[" modifier="none" command="SwitchControl"/>

There's more things that aren't in config already... like these.RedAdder wrote:I don't find the switchControl key in the config, is the command="SwitchControl" ?
...and because this isn't very useful anyway, considering AI makes it sort of juggling ?loki1950 wrote:It was changed for the release because a key was needed for sending a text message in multi-player here is the binding as it was in the 0.4.3 release
