What's your current favorite ship?

Post by SyntaxVorlon »

Mine is the Zhuangzong:
FAST turning, 4 heavy guns and more space than a derivative. Annoying that it cannot hold an overdrive(is this a feature or a bug?). Deadly at close range. Hyena in 3 hits, Plowshare in 10.

Need to find a cloak.

Post yours and your reasons why.
Thank you for helping us help you help us all.

Mine has been the derivative.for a long time like it's speed and agility only medium gun mounts but that's ok auto-tracking on all mounts of course.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Mine are the Lancelot and the Vendetta, as I like longer firefights and I like to engage larger vessels while keeping an eye on their smaller escorts. I still keep safe distance from capships though

Now I fly a milspec Lancelot with Ktek beams and cannons, fully enhanced with autotracking and filled with shady mechanical upgrades that make it fly almost like a small fighter. Big reactor and big shields fullfill this death-dealing vessel. With this I patrol aeran borders to help out confed fleets, for big bucks of course ;)

yep im all for a Lancalot with a similar setup to Xante however i put a cloak on mine my other favourite it a beholder which i hacked into my game from the unit. file, so it's cheating but i bring it out every now an then as its fun to fly i just wish it 'unknown heavy beam' was for sale :)

For smaller craft, I like the Rlaan ships - Taizong or Zhuangzong: fast, manoevreable (sp?), beam weapons (I like beam weapons :) )
As for the heavier work: *points to sig* Not quite as fast or agile, but that is compensated for by the fact that hyenas and other small craft can't touch it, and it's powerful enough to make most Aera regret attacking me
Only real downside is, it's dead ugly, but well, you can't have everything ;)
Admonisher: 2x light ion beam - 2x shield breaker - 2x laser - 2x 15 dumbfires - 3 torpedos -- all with autotracking -- everyone beware!

I like my milspec derivative for 2 ktek beams and nice reactor. can fire longer than zhuangzong and has some missile mounts. a couple friend or foes can be the difference btw escaping into SPEC and escaping into escape pod minus your ship.

still the Goddard. If something survives the long range turrets long enough to get close, the assorted autotracking damage dealers will open a can of whup ass on them. A huge can.

And close is still far away enough that most of the enemies weapons are useless while I merciless pound their sorry asses (yes, I prefer range over firepower. Luckily there are weapons both with a great range and good power).

My second favorite ATM is the Lancelot. I plan to try the Vendetta soon.

The Goddard is still nice, but it doesn't have the same appeal it had in 0.4.3 when phase damage wasn't as common and it was utterly indestructible and destroyed anything in one shot  Those were the days 8)

Derivative. Heavy beam weapons, great performance, volleys of four dumbfire missiles at a time. To subcapital ships this thing is death on fusion engines. Plus, it has a really cool retro look.

Edit: I still haven't tried the Milspec Dostoevsky though. That was my old favorite... The way that it looks like some perfectly innocent shuttle, but packs heavy weapons and some obscene number of missiles, is just great.

I like to new look for the Derivative it will have a new weapon load out as well so it's utility may change too

Enjoy the Choice :)

Mine at the moment is a milspec derivative. It has two shield-breakers and two disruptor beams. It has also a couple of heat-seekers and the rest dumbfire ammo.

It eats Luddites and Pirates for breakfast 8) but it is a bit of a shame that I don't last too long with aarea ships :( I have taken on a couple of niceanders but cringe for mercy when I come up against a ariston

On a side note, where can I get a cloaking device for it?and are there better millispec packages for it?

I do love the design of the derivative,

regards,

Sorry there is only one mil-spec package for each ship that has one very much custom work.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Leonidas (hacks) and Schrodinger. Use the Schrodinger with cloak to get to a base. Save at the base. Transport the Leonidas to the base. Load Leonidas. Kill everything. Repeat. :D

Hmmm, is there a different Clydesdale besides the Merchant version one may buy? IIRC one can only own one of each modification of each type of ship. Has this changed?

Well, that certainly sounds weird, but I don't suspect it's the ship itself that's "buggy". I have to wonder if you wouldn't be able to do the same sort of thing with other ship types?

I'm not sure, but I suspect, when you eject from a ship that isn't in the process of being destroyed, it just becomes part of your flight group, and you MIGHT be able to take control of it the way you would a cargo wingman. You should try that. :D

Cargo wingman? How do you take control of those in the first place?
