The only thing which annoy me is that it will be the only thing non gpl in the game, but, how can I say, if I make a little wget script which print out the url and some infos about the compositor, it will be a nice beginning
We can begin like that, and after finding some peoples who can help, as far as it is not "critical" for the gameplay
I think a far better approach is to include a specific note when you first start the game and on the website that you have to download the music from that location if you want it, otherwise the game will be musicless.
That may well inspire somebody to recreate the music in a way that allows inclusion in the game. It also saves you using people's bandwidth without their consent and the time taken to write the scripts.
Ok, I think this one will be the last for the first beta, as I still have some huge mapping work on 1 or 2 big stations before releasing my alpha. I still miss some weapons on this one, so expect it around 900~~950 polys. I may need 1 or 2 brakiri ones to shoot at, but if I can skip their rounded shapes for now, hum ...
without detail texturing, and using my lods as the mesh, well, I don't know, but I make a huge work to stay on a "decent" polycount, we will see with my first public beta release, as I don't have access to "old" computers. My config is about 1Go of RAM and a brand new barton, geforce3 ti 500
well, a little question. I tried to make a thunderbolt cockpit, but if I stay on official blueprints, I have such things: http://jerome.desbordes.free.fr/noncanon.JPG
And if decide to do it on my own, I'm with that: http://jerome.desbordes.free.fr/canon.JPG
As you can see, on the second the view is a bit more clear. So what's your feeling? Which of those 2 should I use?

I like the second one better 'cause it does not take up as much screen-space.
For a more 'realsitic' cockpit first one would be better IMHO.
the people that don't care for realism (don't laugh, i realize this is a computer game not a simulator) will just run the game with the blank hud no matter what you make your cockpit like, they just don't want junk on their screen.
the people that enjoy the 'feeling' of the cockpit will run it with a cockpit, and will do so with ever-more-love when they know it's shaped like the 'real thing'...
yeah, the proper version is better.....if it takes up too much screen maybe just cheat and shrink the struts a bit.....but having it proper is pretty much the whole point isn't it
I started this post with the sentence that this is the first ingame shot of the B5 mod. But after going trough the 13 sites of this thread I realised that it isn't ... bad memory i have
I may repeat myself, but i just have to say that you are indeed a highly skilled modeler
in fact it is the third, but it is the first real one. If you look carefully on olders, you will see that the texture map is in an awful mess, a weird problem with LW export plugin, in fact. I finally succeded to reach enlightment, to start some debugging with him, and now it work marvellously
