Sweet.

Can you enable ambient occlusion?

No. Bryce doesnt have it. I was playing with the new (and much better) water materials in bryce 7 which is free at the moment and created this more or less by accident. But once the shader stuff is solved I´ll try to recreate it in vue which has ambient occlusion.

Presently, bases are static images. VS shaders should not present a problem, is there an issue with Vue at the moment?

Do we have a time table on the reworking of bases? A common problem with my programing is that over my head or solve most chalenges and I loose intrest, but If I can figure out again the conversion process, and figure out a good interface, I can add ships to my base creation program. If the new structure is comming soon(ish) I can try to work on one for that, otherwise if the insperation strikes I'll dust off the old one.

The shader problem has nothing to do with the base art, you might have a look at the nebula thread - it is just sucking off my free time.
There is no problem with vue except that i need 15 minutes to make such a landing screen with bryce, but 2 hours to make it with vue - and that the water materials of bryce (at least the new ones) are a lot better than the water in vue. I´ll post the results in a few days.
At least for VegaTrek, there is no timetable. This is more or less a one-man-show, so I´ll redo a base as soon as I have some inspiration how to do it....

Edit: shader problem solved (Thanks again, Klauss !). Here are some similar pics made with vue (with ambient occlusion):

Played around a bit with Herminio Nueves new sci-fi city models over there at sharecg. The results were a few new landing screens.
