Helping project - first steps. Read all!

What do we need in prior order:

1. Star Trek fans. You've seen some movies? Or maybe read some books? You know what is photon torpedoe and disruptor canon? You are in the right place!
You can bring all your dreams into reality here, just some sweet work without any hurry ;-)

2. You are not StarTrek fan? You have some experience ( even very small ) in 3d modelling/texturing? You are welcome!

3. You can draw, you have some design skills or just have good taste? You are almost in the right place!

4. You like music? You are in the right place! We need your 10 minutes a day for just another small sound of explosion or special weapon.

Here are some tasks for very very near future:

0. Arming ships. Want some additional weapons here? And some here? You are welcome! Want some specific upgrade? Can't live without it? Make it by yourself!

1. Small fixes to textures of existing ships ( creating glow maps ). Nothing difficult, just some free time needed.

2. Adding glow lights to 3d meshes. Again nothing difficult, just some free time.

3. Gathering/analising statistics. Very important... And so sweet to real Star Trek fan :)
We will need big tables with mass/impulse speed/warp speed/power capacitor/shields/hull etc...
We will need information about weapons, ships, star systems... All you can imagine will be needed. Just no hurry. Your own pleasure.

4. Star systems. Very important issue. We will need a great number of star systems to make really big interesting Universe. Nothing difficult, just simple text file with planet coordinates, their mass/radius and sattelites.

5. Special objects like black holes, asteroid bases, temporal holes, planets etc. All what you can imagine is simple mesh with good texture. Nothing difficult, just some free time and imagination.

6. Special weapons for ships. All like above.

7. AI. You think you computer opponent is stupid? Help us to make it strong and powerfull. Nothing difficult. Just few text files and some free time :)

7. ...... Millions of things that you can imagine :)
Just ask here and we will make it ;-)


8. Main. Missions... This will bind all things together. This will show us black holes in game in balance. This is interesting not only to play, but to create it by yourself! All you dream on is possible to make. Just tell your friend to make star system, choose some ships, special objects... And construct!
If you are short in something it is fine. We will try to create it for your own most exciting mission. And then we will play and discuss it together.

Don't you ever dreamed on missions by movies? Feel free to construct it! Ask for help. Keep patience. All we don't need to hurry. Let's make the game you want to play!

hey I take it that before posting all your work here you were working in the back ground. i am interested in helping you. i program in blitz max, but im not sure how you use the vega strike to create edit this stuff... does it come with an editor?

just give me a few details and what I need to download and I can look at it and learn

I work very very slow and accurate --just for my own pleasure. Without any doublt I'm StarTrek fan :-)
And I see VegaStrike potential and what would be done if we engage all VegaStrike engine features in this mod.

you've got so many stickies i dont know where to write.

anyhow i have an entire library of trek combat sounds from my game.

explosion sounds, shield hit sounds, they are excellent. your weapon sounds aren't bad, but the shield collision sound needs changing, i guess its just a place holder for now.

Is this game simply going to be a Star Trek combat simulator or do you plan on adding some form of story-line and purpose to the gameplay?

Nope. Simulator is first smallest step to get many people involved.

We will create something like fully free dynamical StarTrek Universe. Thousands of star-systems, where you can trade, hount, update your ship, earn money, escort fleets, patrol perimeters, defense star systems, bases, scan planets, investigate universe, hunt for unique details for your ship.

You will be allowed simply to travel from one system to another, dock to station and get new mission to earn money. Or you can get cargo vessel and transport some "Trek drugs" to far deep star system on the last frontier of galaxy :)
Just make sure to call some escort fighters ( I like 3 Defiants + 1 Galaxy class ) to provide your security all over you difficult way. There are tons of pirates and "sepcial objects" ( like black holes or something you have in your brainzzz ) :-)
Ask someone to model 3d mesh and textures for new special torpedoe, phaser, beam, your own special upgrade. Or do it by yourself. And you will be able to add this object into game -- like constructor. Have you ever dreamed about this in any game? I'm sure not :-)
Just do it. Do it by yourself, construct. Use other people's ideas, share them. Make meshes, star systems, models, weapons -- all you want. Post here and we will add it to next release for sure. Problem is imagination and a bit free time.

Well, of course this is Global Universe Mode. There will be also Single Mission Mode, where you can scan Praxis - destroyed planet and help Cap. Kirk to get Tchang's Bird Of Prey off :-)
Have you seen TNG "All good things"? Why don't you want to make mission depending on this serie?

Perhaps it would be better to make 4 different missions :)

Main: Galaxy class -> 3 D'Derix -> free flight to Daveron system ( BTW how
it is in English? ) -> Scan of temporal hole ( I dream on this day, when someone will make 3dmesh and textures for VegaTrek )

Second : Galaxy class -> Some stuffage star system, where I can upgrade my
Galaxy class to get tachyon pulse on a board ( not ready, need people with imagination :) -> Scan ( e.g. very early
Galaxy class, like first mission of Enterprise-D ) ( again, no sensors design, no mesh, no textures )

Third ( combat mission ): GalaxyX -> Klingon border -> Battle against 2
Negh'Var ships while covering Olympic medical ship -> Scan of temporal hole

Fourth: Civilian mission ;-)
Olympic -> Klingon space -> meet GalaxyX by Riker -> reach temporal hole -> escape Negh'Var's -> scan

We have GalaxyX, Negh'Var models already in game. We have just finished modelling Olympic class ( great thnx to esgaroth! )
Just keep in mind, that as Pickard depended on "Q", I depend on real life, on real time ;-)

You can incorporate them into Gampagin. When all missions will be finished, so will be a whole Gampagin. You have seen another movie? Good! What makes you wrong in making your own dreams real? Make mission, share with all other people.


The sweetest thing is that we can assign those Single Player Mission to Global Universe Map. For example you fly to Earth on Enterprise-B ( Excelsior ) and take from here mission called "Battle at Khitomir". After completing you'll get some money and experience, upgrade ship and fly to another system, another mission. Get GalaxyX and help Olympic in his mission.

Or maybe you like Klingons? You are early Bird Of Prey? No problem! Get Klingon transport vessel ( no model yet ), earn money for Negh'Var and destroy this damned Olympic class, ruin Federation :-)))

The problem is your imagination and how many time you have to construct your own missions and help updating Global Universe.

When 7 days will be off, I will post here three big How-To's:
1. Importing your own model into VegaTrek ( not only starship. all you want )
2. Mounting weapons to model. Creating your own weapon.
3. Making your own upgrade for ship. Editing ship stats

There is nothig difficult even for n00bs with those things:-)

Tillias, I've been following this project a while wating for somekind of release. Gonna try it asap. Anyways, I've been gaining loads of experience with the unit.csv and masterparts list files modifying ships for Privteer remake, so if you want a little help, let me know.

Not a problem. By the way, I've started work already on cloaking ships. I've got the BOP cloaking and can very quickly get the rest that can cloak to cloak. Question tho. The defiant in your mod, is it the prototype? Or are you modleing the production ships? Would there be a better thread for discusions like this, or some other metheod that you would prefer?

Good work! Have no time to prepare cloaking ships. Can you PM me with information how to make it?

What do you mean by words "prototype" and "production ships"? Can you explain it more?

Prototypes are pre production. Production refers to ships produced afterwards. The defiant prototype was the one that Sysko broght back to the station. Equiped with a cloaking device and ablative armor, it was more of a pocket battlecruiser than a destroyer. It was also destroyed during the dominion war. However, the production ships weren't equiped with the cloacking device, and I think were not quite as powerfull as the prototype.

Class: Advanced War Destroyer (XDW)
Initially conceived as a small "torpedo boat," designed to rapidly enter Romulan space and cause considerable damage, the Defiant was completely redesigned thanks to two events: the development of a new type of pulse phaser, and the Battle of Wolf 359. In the new design, the Defiant would serve as a quick hit and run vessel, doing heavy damage to a Borg Cube in one pass while serving with fleets of Saber, Norway, Akira, and Sovereign-class starships. However, problems started to arise during the USS Defiant's shakedown cruise in 2368, when it was discovered that when the warp core was run at full power, it would put a heavy strain on the ship's structural integrity field. Essentially, it was too over-gunned for a vessel of its size. Starfleet placed the class on the back burner in light of no further contact with the Borg. Starfleet's first contact with the Dominion changed all that. With station Deep Space Nine suddenly vulnerable to attack, Starfleet Command permanently assigned the Defiant to Benjamin Sikso's command. As the prototype proved itself in skirmishes with the Dominion, the Klingons, and the Borg in their 2373 invasion, Starfleet authorized the construction of more ships. Due to its small size and firepower, it is expected to become one of the most numerous vessels in Starfleet into the 25th Century.

Specially for this we are working on Upgrading system. All ships will be standart equipped at the moment of purchasing. Want ablative armor? Fly there... Buy it :)

The biggest thing with the upgrade system is that you have to decide basicly planet by planet or base by base what is availabe, quantity, and price. Simple for a few destinations, but very consuming with a large univers.

tillias, you refered me here when I asked on pointers to mod and edit vega strike. or vega strike to be more trek.

this didn't help.

I asked specifically about creating the solar systems, the planets etc...

i got an idea, it is one of the more interesting points of the show. sorry i don't know how to mesh or whta ever or texture but it has to do with this fraise,"'beam'me up scotty" yes a teletransporter or... beamer is realy nessicary. and also, when you arm weppons it should say "lock on and prepair to fire on my command" or something to that efect. also for warp,"warp drive engage" etc. just have someone record these things from the show or just record them with you'r ic if you have one. sound authoritative though lol. a nice deep voice.
