Multiplayer server down - now back up - READ THIS PLEASE!

Post by spiritplumber »

The multiplayer server was down for a couple of days because I'm upgrading the pc it runs on.

Now it's back up (and hopefully more responsive), but you will probably have to re-create your account.

Pets can some times 'help' us get new computer parts. the dog destroyed the modem and we had to get a new one which is MUCH faster.Image

Eh... Bugs I can live with, but I never thought I'd have to deal with kitties.

Jokes aside, is the performance any better? :)

My approach to avoiding that: my cat sleeps on the computer.
You know... they don't pee where they sleep, nor where they eat.

Probably that's why I still have such oldies lying around. I recently reconstructed a P100, haha... well... the external cache needed bypassing, but it still worked besides from that.

And, legend has it, that our school's account server was a 12Mhz XT.
And it worked.
Better than the newer server.
That is... it never overheated - very robust machine ;)

Ehm... micheal, those smileys are hilarious.

No, it was aimed at me. 1 kbps?! Well, either the kitten or the dog didn't do a proper job...

That's weird - I'd blame your ISP, not your modem.
Seriously.
No modem downloads that slow.

Telstra is stupid. we should have broudband here ages ago. we live 25 km from the closest exchange that has broadband. they said yes, and when they were about to put it on they said no.

Er?

In other news, the server is back up and has been brow-beaten into being somewhat more stable. :)

Some fixes....

- no more "eject spam" after the server has been up for a while
- stuff should be slightly faster
- systems are only simulated if there's at least one human in them

So when do we play?
