Multiplayer Testing Times?

Post by spiritplumber »

When would it be a good time to test the multiplayer client? I'm usually available Saturday mornings.

Haha - fun. I'd like to see LOAF fight a WCU duel. Just to see if his joystick is as pungent as his words - plain curiosity, one expects lots of (un-repressed) anger in that guy.
Sadly, this saturday I have a few compromises.

Ehm... what's your timezone? Perhaps your saturday morning isn't mine ;)

"Compromises", in English, means the results of "compromising", Klauss. You meant, "appointments", "tie-up's", "need do's", or "engagements" ;-)
Spirit is in our timezone; or at least my timezone, if you take daylight saving time issues into account. Plus or minus 1 hour at worst.

EDIT: No, she's not, I just realized; she used to live in NY; but she's in Texas now.

I thought so. But I also thought I had heared the other meaning sometime - apparently not, but I got really close, look at the middle english note.

I think most anglophones would find that Middle English note an interesting piece of trivia; nothing of that meaning remains in normal usage.

Someone at ogre posted this open source ambient light calculator, btw; I thought it might be of some use, like we could try and modify it to produce the 6-way baking process without going through Blender.

Won't run for me, though; it can't find some dx9 dll...

That's probably Microsoft DirectX 9 data file.

Hey, Kang, how are you doing? And how's the Blendering going?

Yeah, that much I knew. What I don't get is why; I got dx9 installed. Maybe I didn't install Python properly and it needs some environmental variable to be set up for it to see dx9. Donno.

Im good for when ever.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said.
But I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I'm doing good, thanks Chuck. :) Blender is now my home, thanks to you!

Weird. Apparently, files are starting to go missing to me too after I installed Python.
Actually Blender also has one file missing, only it works without it. But Yafray doesn't.

I'm sorry, but I will probably be sleeping when you test the multiplayer. :P

That's usually one of these: http://www.threelights.de/index.php?pag ... _files.php

Happens with several apps and games as these files aren't included in the usual dx9 install, apps are supposed to distribute these themselves.

You were right, ottmar; those dll's solved the problem. Thank you most kindly.

Kang; you shouldn't need to install Python; if you're running Blender it means you got Python already. If you've just upgraded Python, you might as well then upgrade Blender, have you? The latest release is very good.
I was looking at the Arts Forum, to see what you've been doing, by the way. That factory and the bar are exquisite. I want to see that bar in-game; I want to sit at a table, and order capuccino. Keep up the good work.

I'm SICK OF THIS!

Post by spiritplumber »

I don't want to knock other people's work, but:

Is this-or-that mod releasing a demo video, or another review of a repackaging, THAT much more important than what we're doing (WC1 multiplayer for chrissakes!!!!) to supplant it on the news page of wcnews? I'm seriously getting demoralized here.

Why hasn't wcnews reported the latest in multiplayer work? Maybe they haven't been told enough yet. Click here to do something about it.

Spirit, it's probably best that way.
We're still debugging the thing, we don't want to publicize on such a critic-filled forum until it's somewhat polished.

Why are you always so concerned about CIC, spirit? They are enemies, and they would do anything they could to demoralize us. Are you going to let them? Just forget about them.

Because this is adults acting like schoolyard bullies, and it's wrong on a lot of levels.

Agreed, but what can you and I do about it? Just delete them from your memory. Think of them as a computer virus: You don't try to "fix" a virus you find on your computer; do you? You delete it. ;-)

Actually I collect them :P good to test antiviruses with.

Jokes aside -- I don't honestly know what tactic to use. I already tried challenging LOAF to a duel, but he didn't seem interested.

Just ignore them; and let's work on WCU, make it the most popular WC game ever, and then continue to ignore them... ;-)

Did you have a go at the multiplayer at all yet? :) I'm using the WCU data files, so all the WC1 ships that have been redone can go straight back into wcu.

You gotta run wcvs.bat in the main directory.... either wcvs (username) (password) or with no arguments, it'll go to the setup screen.

sorry for the confusion! i could've sworn I wrote that on the webpage, I'll look at it.
