Right now I'm working on dialing in the Installer, which should go like clockwork if the archiver gets along with the files downloaded with CVS. I'm also trying not to neglect the Demon. But yes, I will do more in the forseeable future :D

No worries. I'm the same way; as much as I like to concentrate on one thing at a time, once I get tired or stuck I need to do something else for a while.

Speaking of ... ;)

Clash Revisited

... much better.

Backwater Worlds (sound familiar?)

... I got bored while the install archiver was going.

Clash sounds great. Backwater... I don't like it; can't put my finger on it... maybe it's because I love the original Privateer music so much I just can't accept any sort of re-interpretation. Better sounding instruments would be great; effects might be great; but the rhythm and the timings of the notes and stuff like that has to be exactly like the original, for me to like it, I think. The mixing too, like the main instrument sounds too loud, I think; the original is more subtle, in my ears.

Heh. I needed something to do while the archiver was busy doing stuff, and later crashing :P

I actually like backwater a lot - Clash... well... too loud. After replacing my eardrums, and turning down the volume, it's quite good, though needs some work.

Backwater does need a bit of tweaking to make it sound more like the original, though. Mostly harmony is a bit changed by the different balance - the original had some very nice dissonances, very well placed - they're kind of washed out in your version. And yes... the main instruments are too loud. In the original, this one was a conjunction of instruments all at the same level, playing independent polyphonies (that is... each melodic arch was independent yet fitting with others).

I think it's just a matter of finding the right mixing options.

I actually hadn't gotten to mixing with the hardware yet, so what you got was the iffy FL mixer. I have to say though, the OD guitar in Backwater (the original or mine) is so synthy, it makes me wish I knew how to hook my guitar into my computer ;)

Funny; I never even thought of it being a "guitar". Sounded more like a theramin to me, with like some percussion envelope mode. I never associated it with any present instrument.

Well, it's an OD Guitar patch in the MIDI, anyways ;)

Like I said though, it's not very guitar-sounding.
