Where are the little thing like the eject light, and armor and shield gauges? I can't do much without them, and the images have them already taken out :(
Also, the Broadsword really doesn't seem to like its cockpit. I put the new ones you sent in the folder to replace the ones already there, and it was still bent up really wierd like. Can you tell me what part of the coding(or whatever it is) that determins how it is displayed ingame?

For the sections of screen you mentioned look in this directory:
C:\Games\WCU\textures\cockpit

As for bent really weird...
are they, perhaps, bent into 3-D?

Ya, gauges etc. can be recycled from the cockpits that already exist... i hope ^^;

re broadsword: i think it's something in the .cpt or .spr files. I never messed with the cockpits, just recovered that which existed -- exception being the first drayman cockpit, which is oviously made out of a galaxy cockpit.

Go into your units folder, open the folder of one of ships. You will see .bfxm files and .spr files. The bfmx I am completely cluess to what they are about, but like.. if you open the generic-hud.spr within the folder of a dralthi, you will see.

generic-hud.png generic-hud.png
96 128
0 0

the two png thingies are the name of the file for the hud. The numbers I am clueless about too, but I guess they deal with the placement of the hud on the screen. Thats what you want to mess around with.

always backup your files before messing around too.

bfxm files are mesh files. They're the ship's geometry.

About the numbers... in that specific example, I think it's ignored (since the sprite is always placed in "VDU" space) - but I might be BSing. For other sprites, one line of those numbers define the position, and the other line the dimensions. Can't remember which is which.

well, I know the spr files for the cockpits are ALWAYS:
blahblah-cockpit.png blahblah-cockpit.np
2 2.6666666
0 -.3333333

Yet, even though the broadsword has the same numbers, its messed up.

Also, I checked the textures folder as per Wendy's suggestion. Explorer had a heart attack.  However, It seems I can use the cockpit textures ok, so I just have to retrieve them before explorer dies. The problem is,k I can't use these for ships like the saber and and rapier, possibly more, not and have it be as authentic as I like, BUT FEAR NOT, for I need to check out GIMP's website, as it seems to be more than DOZE only, and if doesn't pan out, I will try Print Shop, and then I can get what I need from screenshots taken from my game :D. Also, for the Sabre, Broadsword, and Crossbow, I will recycle the Stiletto cockpits sides and back(mostly the back) so that the afore mentioned cockpits can havesides and a back, instead of useless turret images.

configure the machine NOT to use thumbnails and it should keep explorer sane.

You have to open explorer FIRST.
Then click View.
Set it to display either lists or details.
Order it the way you like it, I generally sort by file type, default is NAME.

Then select tools
Folder options

Under the General Tab:
select - Use Windoze Classic Folders

Switch to the View Tab
Ignore all the options, just click the button for Like current folder next to the icon labelled Folder Views

THat SHOULD get you to be able to work in the directories until you can patch Doze.

Oh my god, I just now realized what you mean by Doze. If you hadn't said Windoze, I probably would have kept on thinking it was some kind of Dos emulator  Someone hit me.

Someone has fallen victim to the term window, I see.

Now do you see why I say that EVERYONE that uses a GUI (Graphic User Interface) uses Windoze.

Don't feel bad, I can be twice as clueless.
