(code update, small file)

(new asteroid gfx, small file)

The assumption is that you already have the big gfx file of course :)

What's new:

* First implementation of torpedos and phase shields; can't buy milspec torpedos anywhere yet though. Anything bigger than a Paradigm and owned by a military entity will have phase shields.

* Asteroids are destroyable and you can even land on some of them.

* FINALLY fixed fighter exit from carriers, now it looks just right.

* Minor AI tweaks.

* New bases and capships now buy/sell stuff correctly.

Updated again! It's all in the CVS thingy, if you can't grab it from there tell me and I'll just upload.

What was done: (1) Major jump point craziness.

The way it works in the new version I just uploaded (you CAN get it from CVS now right? if not tell me and I'll upload it like usual) is:

* There are buoys. Confed-related buoys have Confed texturing. Kilrathi buoys have Kilrathi texturing. Other buoys have neutral texturing.

* There is a wireframe (ish... still doesn't look right, anyone up to redoing it?) thing around the buoy, projected by the buoy. This is how the "ball" in the original priv should have been done first I believe.

* The wireframe is different colors depending on who owns the buoy.

* Some systems don't have buoys at all (most notably unexplored systems).

* This is all eye candy anyway: jump points work no matter what.

* I think I'm getting the best of all worlds this way... I would do a ball instead of a wireframe, but for some reason I can't make (semi)transparent meshes. I'd rather have a ball if anything, IF someone can bake a better mesh than me!!! Please do!!!!

(2) Kilrathi assault shuttle now exists. It's not launched by anything yet thoug, but it exists and works.

(3) Troop and shuttle AI redone to make more sense.

Major things to do now:

Separate logic for "fighters that launch from carriers" and "fighters that launch from other capships" in that other capships should have max. 3 or 4 fighters and launch them all at once (it's their escort), while carriers should park and keep shooting out fighters. (i'll do this tomorrow)

Caernaven missile salvo launcher needs to be pre-damaged so that the missiles don't launch in lockstep. (i'll do this tomorrow)

PLEASE SOMEONE DO THE TEXTURES FOR THE NEW JUMP BUOY WIREFRAMES, OR REDO THEM ENTIRELY! I DID THE BEST I COULD BUT TEY LOOK LIKE CRAP!

Also please can someone texture the Kat transport?

The units part is almost done :) So do we put in the Bengal carrier or not?

You gotta ask hellcatv on that one. I use something called TortoiseCVS which is simple enough for me to use so you should have no problems. It's free to download.

Ys, I highly reccomend TortioiseCVS if you're running windows. SourceFORGE.net also has a comprehensive, albeit lengthy CVS guide if you're looking for general info.

I can help you check out the CVS version of vegastrike if needed, but I'm not familiar with the privateer repository.

I've never used cvs, and can't have tortoise, it's windows only; I'm in linux.
Can't we just have a donwload file?

Here's a list of cvs clients. A good deal of those should work on linux, and there are always command line clients as well.

If you want the linux release of privateer 1.0, you can get it here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wcun ... n?download

Thanks, I'll try and install one when I get back, later tonight.

I also don't know where the CVS repository is. I thought I'd go "there" and might find some help links on how to set up the CVS client, but I can't find that "there" anywhere...

Okay, I got gCvs running, but I haven't the foggiest idea what anything is. Most of the menu options are grayed out, including Help. I suppose the place to start is Admin->CVSsettings, where the fist tab asks for CVSROOT. Donno what to put there, nor what to put in the other tabs. Anyone could give me some quick pointers how to set it up, to help get me started? (I *really* don't want to spend days reading documentation, if at all possible... ).
TIA

All I can help you with is the vegastrike cvs, I've never used the priv repository and I have no idea where the server is even located. We can wait for someone more knowlegeable about this to read the thread, or you can try looking around the forum/doing searches.

Sorry that I can't be of any more help.

Many thanks; I was also itching to hack at the vegastrike trunk, so it's much appreciated. Saved the post to a text file, so I don't lose it.

Update as far as file locations go:

http://www.spiritplumber.com/priv_remake/wcu-data.rar
http://www.spiritplumber.com/priv_remake/wcu-code.rar

This was done because rar gives better compression, plus I got off my @$$ and wrote an auto updater. These two will be updated once every day around midnight central time. CVS is still being used of course.

Hey spiritplumber, you're doing a great job integrating the wcu into the privateer universe. it has made the game a lot more enjoyable for me. i just downloaded your newest content. the warp points look great, however, i can't jump out of the troy system. the game just crashes and goes back to windows. any help or suggestions you can give would be much appreciated. oh and great job to everyone else who has been involved.

thanks

If it's in Windows, it's a corrupted jpeg.
If it's in Linux, it's a missing asteroid mesh.
Which one?

Okay, you got a corrupted rar file, I believe, that contained a corrupted jpeg image file. Spirit knows about it, and she may have fixed it already. Check the latest files, and compare the date to the ones you downloaded. If it's the same date you may have to wait a bit.
