Considering that I was using a saved ship to run the missions with Tayla, it was almost a guarantee that I was gonna wind up hated by the militia and the confeds. I was right. So. . . I'm off to build relations a bit first. Not a lot, just some. Then I'll try it with a lot.
I'll grant you the hate was minimal. -2 or -3 as opposed to -50.
In the original, I can't remember having the confeds in the same system with the militia. I'm sure it happened, but when I took Tayla's first mission and jumped into Troy, the first thing on my radar was a Confed, as I listened to the Millitia Yammer about being a "Filthy little brilliance runner.. How strange to have the millitia in what was once almost exclusively a Confed ship, the Gladius, chasing after me with blasters while teh confeds sat idly by.
I'll try an initial trip to Oxford to get some Retro Kills to boost my relations, then I'll pay a visit to Perry and run the Kilrathi a bit and try tayla's missions again, with relations nearer +50 for Confed and Militia.
Then I'll do it again after I reach relations of 100% and see what happens.
Man, Killing Kilrathi really causes a jump in faction relations BIG TIME.
It only showed such a rise with the COnfeds and Pirates before. Now it's a 10 Point jump in all three camps! Before Killing Retros was a BIG Militia Push and barely moved the confeds, but that's changed too. INteresting.

how odd...I didn't change that code.
however... should we clamp the relationships between 100% and -100%? or is it good that people can *really* hate you but only like you so much

I can really work up to a good hate. Let them have to work it down the hard way. It's harder when you kill lots of hunters, or pirates for that matter, but I think it appropriate. And no-one likes you as much as your mother, husband or wife, so cap the like.hellcatv wrote:how odd...I didn't change that code.

Anyone else?

From what I remember of the original, the Gladius was flown by the militia.. I don't remember ever seeing Confed flying a Gladius. Who remembers differently?Wendy wrote:How strange to have the millitia in what was once almost exclusively a Confed ship, the Gladius

I disagree - it could become impossible to repair a relationship if things get too bad.Wendy wrote:I can really work up to a good hate. Let them have to work it down the hard way.hellcatv wrote:how odd...I didn't change that code.

Can the relationship currently spiral into obscene negative numbers?

I think that was back from when we had the pirates flying Orions that we let confed fly gladiuses
we should take that out of faction_ships.py
*sigh* I hope we convince the svn folks to reenable the acct
