PRIVATEER IRIDIUM
A VegaStrike MOD (LINUX)

What is Privateer IRIDIUM?
==================================================

Privateer IRIDIUM is the culmination of the following 4 Privateer MODS, rolled up into 1 single MOD:
PGG - is known as Privateer Gemini Gold
PRM - is known as Privateer Remake
PPU/WCU - is known as Privateer Parallel Universe (sometimes referred to as Wing Commander Universe)
PLAT - A the newest one called Privateer Platinum (released 2017)

All these MODs have their own strengths and weaknesses. For example, PGG has high textured bases (nice high details) however the sprites/bartenders/NPCs are low texture/low detail. PGG also has an updated tweak pack which fixes certain issues in the game.

PPU/WCU has high textured sprites/bartenders/NPCs, however the bases are low textured and lower in detail quality. PPU/WCU has about 10 bonus "mini-campaigns" as well as extra cockpits.

PLAT has great textures on the weapons (ship merchant screen) as well as some other updates.

Both PGG and PPU have low detailed "outer space" scenery, whereas PRM went thru the efforts to make the outer space environment more pleasing and with variety.

( This is just a brief comparison of the 4 known MODs that are currently out in circulation.)

NEW STARTING LOCATION
==================================================
Since IRIDIUM is *not* your typical Privateer game play, a new starting location has been implemented, and some extra credits so you can buy at least a jump drive to start exploring.

ADDED WARP DRIVE
==================================================

Instead of just pressing the "A" key and watch your ship fly to the next location, now you can press ALT-W to engage your Warp Drive.
Set your engines to maximum speed, press ALT-W and watch your ship go at warp. If you press the AFTERBURNER key while in Warp, you will travel even faster.
To disengage Warp Drive, press ALT-W again.

Your Shields WILL DISCHARGE when going to warp!! So be prepared!!

NEW BASES AND NEW ALIEN DERELICT SHIP
==================================================
A total of 6 new bases have been added to IRIDIUM, 5 of them are in the Gemini sector, and the last one is in Kessel (an alien base) where you can get the StelTek gun!

SHIP CHANGES
==================================================
All upgrades have been unlocked so you can enjoy playing with your favorite ship. Slight coloring effects have been changed to the 4 standard ships (Tarsus, Orion, Galaxy, Centurion) in which their Hull shows a nice crimson toned effect, something which might occur cruising around space near sunspots... also adds a more "veteran" look to the ship(s).

MAIN CAMPAIGN CHANGES
==================================================
The Main Campaign as well as well as the Righteous Fire campaigns have purposely been "disabled". The regular story line campaigns just get in the way of the feeling of a true open universe game, thus these campaigns have been purposely disabled.

DOCKING CHANGES
==================================================
Auto docking has been disabled to make it more real (per se). When you press the "0" or "d" keys, the docking boxes will be drawn on the bases. Simply just collide into the structure and you will dock.

This also makes for great fun to fly through some of the bases, like the mining bases, the refinery, New Constantinople... etc. Have some Pirates chase you and fly through the base structures ... more fun than flying through the asteroid fields.

NO MORE ANNOYING RETROS -- SAY HELLO TO AWACS
==================================================
This is a personal choice and change in the game where the Retros are just plain annoying, thus they have been replaced with AWACS.

UPDATED VDU GRAPHICS
==================================================
This is a work-in-progress.
The VDU display of incoming transmission features updated Hi-Def graphics! So far it is only one, and it is for one of the male pirates.

JUMP and WORMHOLE ANIMATION
==================================================
The animation for Jump and Wormhole points have been updated.

MOON BASES
==================================================
The addition of a simple moon bases has been added to IRIDIUM.
You can find one in the Kessel System.

WORMHOLES
==================================================
Wormholes have been added. These offer random long distance jumps.
All "dead end" systems have wormholes added to them so you can "jump out" --- somewhere.
Wormhole exit points do NOT have a return point to their original system ... taking a wormhole is a ONE-WAY TRIP and an adventure.
Some wormholes will lead you across great distances, while others will lead you into dangerous zones.
Make sure you FUEL UP before taking a wormhole ... no guarantee there will be a base or a station at the exit point.
Wormholes will NOT be added to your in-game map (purposely), however in-game they are fixed due to the nature of programming them in.
Wormhole routes will NOT be added either.
Remember ... these are "wormholes" after-all.

WORMHOLE SYSTEM JUMP OUT POINTS
==================================================
Only two (2) systems in Gemini will lead you out into a NEW star system called Outer Rim into Kessel.
The two (2) systems in Gemini which have the "jump out" worm holes are:
- DN-N1912 and Mah_Rahn

These two (2) wormholes will lead you back to the Outer-Rim and into the Kessel system, in which the Derelict station is floating around which will allow you to grab the StelTek gun (if you had not done so already to start).

GEMINI SYSTEMS WITH WORMHOLES
==================================================
It is with intended purpose to NOT write a "worm hole map" as it would just make them regular "jumps".
However, to make it less challenging for the novice player, here is a list of systems within Gemini that have working wormholes, remember they are ONE-WAY paths that will cover great distances ... or lead you into a dangerous area. FUEL UP before taking a worm hole.

Explore them all to see how much more random and exciting it makes playing Privateer IRIDIUM

Any chance of a Windows release? I found myself the SVN505 release of Parallel Universe a few days ago, and it's kinda wonky. Also Loki, good to see you again!

We are working on it we have working Linux build for both Vegastrike and PU if you feel like helping with testing etc just join us on our Gitter chat channel nabaco is tiring to get a Windows build.
