a bunch of questions about the aera

Post by Tarran »

what do preditors on aera look like?

were there any paticular preditors that hunted aera?

what kinds of flying creatures do the aera have on thier homeworld?

what were aera early weapons like .. before thier equal to gunpowder.. (like humanity's would have been crossbows, swords, ect)?

when aera hunted for food, did they travel in packs, or as single members?

what does an aera family unit look like.. and what kind of hierchy is there in the family structure?

in the descriptions, I see that aera lived on a jungle world.. did they live on the ground, or in the trees?

those that existed on the small islands, did they tend towards the more planty sections of these islands? also, did the flavor the society weed out thinking resulting from coming from islands over coming from large jungles?

did the aera have any semi sembiotic or relationship with any paticular animals? like humans have dogs, cats, horses, cows, some birds, ect.. .. if so.. what purposes did/do these creatues serve in an aera's life?

as a side thing, in reading of the aera I saw that they had the shorter lifespan. and that they were aware of it.. however I'd like to point out that they probably would not have been aware of it until they met some other species. at most the awareness would have been a comparitive of one aera culture to another. If the aera are a territorial preditory race, then more than likely, finding another species that had the longer lifespan resulted in the aera trying to wipe them out.
(in this, there are two levels of awareness.. there is the internal/species awareness.. [this could be seen as akin to those rules that are known to a paticular society without the need of thier writing or explaining].. and then there is the alien awareness.. )

If you know the preditors, animals, and flying creatures a given species had, then you know the general form thier technology takes. our birds have become our jets and our spacecraft.. cars are animals we drive, we even name them after paticular animals (known for speed, or constitution). our missiles are just an advanced arrow.. most weapons are offshoots of the bow or crossbow. The animals and family and locations determine how we think in strategic situations.. a good example of this are humans.. we're land based animals.. we tend to think in 2 dimensions (pilots are a rarity, because they think in 3 dimensions).. our aircraft is the horizon with the person standing on top.. otherwise we talk about how the aircraft hangs below the wings.. most combat groups in space type games are flat, in various designs (like the v, or the diamond pattern).. most space based missiles are elongated with fins.. why do they have fins? they don't really need them.. why are they elongated? its not like they are pushing through something... form, personal history, family/social structures are the bases for the shape the technologies we use.
Do you hear, that whisper, calling unto you
O'childe of the shore
As have your brethern before you
beckoning, to sail to those distant lands
Come
embrace me, your mistress
Upon the coldest sea

They still need to be elongated so that they can penetrate armor/shielding (small contact area maximizes pressure). Also, rocket motors need to be a tube to function properly and generate the most power.
Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."
