Documents that one is assumed to have read:

The most appropriate place for Questions, Queries, and Quandaries regarding the nature of the Vega Strike universe and its past, present, or future history. Home to the occasional unfortunate RetCon.

Documents that one is assumed to have read:

Post by jackS »

Most of these documents are still under construction and are not currently guaranteed to be in a consistent state.

Thus, while those documents in SVN are as canonical as any documents that VS has, they will be subject to substantial retconning in addition to attempts to make them not look like the often poorly constructed first draft documents that many are. Data on the Wiki is even more wrought with potential for becoming out of date or inconsistent, and, in the absence of sufficient canonical documentation, is difficult to re-sync.

This being said, the following remain the relevant documents one should read as a prerequisite to discussing many aspects of the VS universe and future history, and the Wiki remains the most organized location to access the information we currently have. Read the Wiki. The Wiki is your friend (except when people mistake "wiki for ease of developer collaboration" with "wiki means collaboration - VS must be a collaborative fiction!" and start editing pages with whatever undiscussed ideas occur to them, and then someone needs to clean things up)

------

Data in SVN:

"A brief history in time and space"
https://vegastrike.svn.sourceforge.net/ ... 0space.pdf

Currently a rambling, uneven, stream-of consciousness meandering through a history of Milky Way civilization in the VS universe, this document will eventually be grown to contain a more useful accounting of galactic civilization from the perspective of the extant species.

A few moments in the life of a VS universe denizen (in this case, one named Deucalion):
https://vegastrike.svn.sourceforge.net/ ... iew=markup

Data on the Web:

The Vegastrike Manual Database:
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/wiki/Database
Not everything in here has been reviewed for consistency, but it's still the richest source for written information on the VS universe. To the degree that it is current and consistent (usually fairly high :)) and existent (often questionable :-/) the information you're looking for should be locatable here. Some selected entried of note are (somewhat redundantly) listed below.

Information on known Sapients and other noteworthy species:
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/wiki/Species
This data is highly incomplete, but what data is there is useful.

Information on notable factions:
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/wiki/Factions
This data is highly incomplete, but what data is there is useful.

The Q&A grab bags:
If you got this far, you know where they are :)
