Mod recommendations?

Post by alexis92 »

I've quite recently rediscovered Vega Strike, having played it many many years ago when I was still a kid. I was stoked to see the game still being updated and I imagine things may have changed a fair bit since I last played more than a decade ago.

I was wondering if there are any mod recommendations for me to try out that would make for a good time revisiting the game all the years later. I'd love to get any suggestions!

I'm pretty sad to hear this. :(

There have been a number of good and interesting mods for Vega Strike over the years. And, judging by forum activity, it seems like the bulk of mod development occurred in a great flourish many years ago - around 2006-2007. And lately... there's nothing? I do realize that a few of these projects seemed to reach a certain finished state. But did the rest of these projects get abandoned? Or are some of them waiting for Vega Strike to reach a certain point in development?

The star trek mod was hosted with the PU fork people whose web sever and domain collapsed they needed some actual changes to the engine source code to handle interstellar transitions not wormholes not sure where the other mods where hosted and who their principal people where seems to have been lost in the bit rot of time hopefully our current activity will come to their attention and they take up where they left off.

Enjoy the Choice :)

You just need to clone the whole repo it replaces the assets from vegastrike-assets.

Enjoy the Choice :)

You can also do like I did - download it to a zip file, unpack it to a separate directory, and set up a new.bat file ( in Windows) referencing the different directory file location, so you can play both PWCU and UtCS. :-)

It was fun to fly around the old Sol sector last night for the first time in years - until I crashed into Hector :-(

It actually is pretty sad. I'd have to agree that we're well past the prime for this forum in terms of activity, even though I just got here :(

I was looking at the wrong place!! I downloaded the code as a .zip file and I used it with the 0.8 of vega-strike engine.
