Hunting down an old mod

Hi all,

I'm trying to hunt down an old mod called Privateer Universe. It was based off another mod called Privateer Remake.

I was directed to this forum by a Dan_W_58 on Thingiverse, in case anyone is wondering.

That mod has which had their our web site and svn repo was hosted by chuck_starchaser but the site has bit the dust after he had some difficulties in real life I do have copy of the svn repo though I will have to dig it out of an older box that is no longer connected to my home network but there is an other major issue due to major api changes in the supporting libraries it will not compile on any current system on any OS that we supported Linux/Windows/OSX even the base vegastrike source needs major work now to clean up those api changes. We do have a few github repos working on those api updates but I'm not a C++ programmer just the proverbial last man standing

ps.BTW Dan_W_ 58 may in fact be chuck himself

Enjoy the Choice :)

According to him, his server crashed during an attempted update, resulting in data loss. He shut down the project as a result of this.

I'd really appreciate it if you are willing to share your copies. Even a compiled distribution is great as I can decompile it and then work on the source code from there.

Can you past a message to Dan that the Shepherd has a copy of the old PU svn repo but not the vegatrek branch I will try getting it off the old machine so that the full source code tree is available hopefully Dan still lives in Montreal which is just 3 hour drive from me though I myself do not drive. And in that message to Dan mention that I'm a mod on the makehuman forums as I have seen his Chuck_starchaser name on that membership list.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Maybe in repository? There's some "privateer" branch from 2005:
https://sourceforge.net/p/vegastrike/co ... privateer/

Thanks Loki. Dan (who is actually Chuck Starchaser) got the message. He and I are both looking forwards to setting PU up and playing it.

As for the Sourceforge page, I'm not sure. I'll ask him.

That copy is now on GitHub along with a new source code for the engine it's a separate project on GitHub set up by ermo as his username so you need the 0.6.0 binary from vegastrike and the assets https://github.com/ermo/privateer_wcu

Enjoy the Choice :)

What is the newer version of this program now because I can't find anywhere, unfortunately, and I don't want to make a new thread on this topic, what already is, if someone has, I would ask him to send a link

It's the same github link though the engine is now at 0.8.0 we moved development to github several years ago now the main link is https://github.com/vegastrike/Vega-Strike-Engine-Source
