Vega Strike Upon The Coldest Sea 0.5.3

Vega Strike is a GPL 3D OpenGL Action RPG space sim that allows a player to trade and bounty hunt. You start in an old beat up Wayfarer cargo ship, with endless possibilities in front of you and just enough cash to scrape together a life. Yet danger lurks in the space beyond.

Vega Strike Upon The Coldest Sea features a fully dynamic universe that advances independent of the player's actions. Become a trader, pilot, or defender of humanity against alien invasion! With dozens of ships and upgrades to choose from, a great variety of systems, planets and stations to visit and a pinch of tragicomedy, the choice is yours. Be sure, your game will be unique!


I have just tagged our repos with the release 0.5.3

Since the last release 0.5.1 a couple of years ago there were mainly bug fixes and code improvements but no changes to the actual UtCS game play.

At the moment this just an update of our source code so that it complies on current Linux distros no one has build it for Windows yet :wink: lots of API changes had to be accommodated and our OpenGL render pipeline is in need of major work but it compiles and runs.If any one feels that they can help please let us know either here or at our GitHub project page lots of work still needed as ever on any Open Source project.

There is actually Life out there :P

I was working on trimming VS taose in much the same manner (except no boost or GL updates ( got running source tree to 10.8 mg though)). I would suggest removing the engine/src/cs_* files though, as they are at best outdated and tend to confuse python 3 work (at least for me :? ). As I just D/Led 0.53 I have a lot of tire kicking ahead.
