Welcome aboard just use the "D" key the same one to actually dock that will get the base to show the docking outlines the clearance key is "0" zero not O.

In that case see if you can find the vegastrike.conf file that is where the key-bindings are defined it's a text file in the XML format where it is depends on which OS you use I forgot that asking for clearance is alt+"0" not just zero you can see all the key assignments by hitting "esc"
