WinXP: Music not playing; stderror has plenty of output.

1. Put simply, no music plays. Combat-based sounds and comms work fine, but I can't hear any music. Seems to be a new problem for me. And yes, I already tried the patch/fix.

Have you tried to reinstall or use the latest svn release? Adding the music fix binary should have fixed any music issues.. so there may be something else wrong.

I'm just using the latest stable version; already tried reinstalling and tried the music fix. And yes, the music files seem to be in the right place and seem to be fine.

EDIT: Considering the lack of responses, I'll go ahead and try to use the latest subversion; I'll report any bugs here.
EDIT 2: Tried to get the latest svn using TortoiseSVN (using the link in the wiki, "https://vegastrike.svn.sourceforge.net/ ... runk/win32"), but a lot of content seemed to be missing, and there was a note stored in the SVN log to use "https://svn.code.sf.net/p/vegastrike/code/trunk" instead. So now, instead of having an .exe but a lot of missing content, I have a lot of content but no .exes, and the "windows readme" was useful but did not help me with my lack of .exes.

EDIT: Alright, so I made a copy of the bin and data folders and moved them into the game folder, then copy-pasted the contents into the main game folder, but all I can see when I start the game (no menu!) is an image of a missile, and when I attempt to "launch", things only get weirder. Additionally, my ship is identified as a dumbfire missile. The only upside is that the music plays normally. HELP!

Try in the bin folder instead as that is where all the dll's and binary stuff should be you are getting what we have called the no rooms bug.

Interesting idea; I'll try that and post back the results tomorrow when I'm not half-asleep.
EDIT: It's no good! Dumped the modules folder into both bin and the main game folder, then copied the contents and dumped those into both bin and the main game folder, then tried running both game .exes (the one in the bin folder and the one in the main game folder, naturally). Still have the same results.

Looking at that first stderr you posted why are there references to the Entourage that is a VS ship and should not be part of the PU/WC data set so IT may be that your data folder is crossed with your VS install/or svn/git repo in some way.

Okay, let's start over.
1. Of the two SVN packages (https://svn.code.sf.net/p/vegastrike/code/trunk and http://sourceforge.net/p/vegastrike/cod ... unk/win32/), which should I download?
2. Assuming I have the correct configuration (i.e. lots of dumping the contents of both into the same folders), what should I do?

To get it working you only need the data folder and the win32 one to set it up do not run from your svn folder directly first export the data folder to a folder on your HD try to avoid Program Files(lots of permission issues) then create a bin folder within that exported one.Next export the contents of win32 to that new bin folder.Now when you update your svn repo there will be no chance of contamination.Been doing it that way myself for years now with out any issues.

So your playing folder should look like this (what you named the folder)\ .vegastrike ai animations bases bin .....

Hope this works for you if not post both stdout and stderr and hopefully I can figure out what's wrong :?

Actually you need to pull win32/bin if you pull just win32 it will also pull the VS data as well. Whenever (or at some point after) the svn was setup win32 was created with to pull bin and data. The end result being a directory containg something like vegastrike/bin and vegastrike/data.

TortoiseSVN says otherwise; it says that the data repo has been moved. But I'll try the bin folder exclusively, if you insist.

Ok, so the external link needs to be updated then. I would have known that had I updated with externals at all :lol:

If you already have the latest data nothing. Before, to keep an svn install up to date win32 was there to pull all the latest binary and data changes (up until SF.net change the repo address). It's fixed now though.

The latest svn binary should create a .vegastrike folder in My Documents (for XP) or Documents (Vista?, Win 7, Win 8?).

As long as you have the latest svn data in the folder with the latest binaries there shouldn't be a problem.

Okay, so now I have

as an external, but I'm still getting the same issue even though I just updated it (as in, just now).

Odd...

So, full svn binary and data? Go ahead and attach your stderr/out.txt, dxdiag, and system specs. Also need to know your game settings (vegastrike.config). No clue what the idea is but I hope the answer could be in one of those.

Ok, it *IS* using the python dll and it can't find the files from python27.zip which you have in the bin dir. Move the files from that zip into the data/modules/ directory and that should solve your problem (I hope).

Not sure why but its looking for two additional libs for import. I'm posting them now from my 2.7 install.

Put them in with the others and let me know if it works or not.

So it's expecting a few different basic modules? Why wouldn't that be included in the SVN?
