I seem to be getting fairly regular crashes on Win7. Running 0.5.1r1 and get a C++ Runtime error (which I can't remember off the top of my head).
Normally I can live with this but it just got irritating as it crashed when I brought a pirate Yeoman down to incredibly low HP in my Progeny.
I think the problem is shown in stderr, but I really know nothing about it.
Anybody else get this/know how to fix it?
As an off-topic: is there any where I can find out where Vega Strike maps all my joystick buttons to?

Are you running in compatibility mode? (we've heard it's necessary in win7)

As another thing: it seems to have created a strange autosave file. If somebody could enlighten me on the location I'd share it.

Hi munno.
I'd be happy to test. Create a bug here http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_i ... tid=119507 with the savegame and instructions on how to trigger the crash.
I am running on win7x64 with winxpsp2 compatibility mode. Autosave is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Vega Strike\.vegastrike\save\Autosave. At least this is the file that is written to.

Ignore it.
It's looking for the intro and preintro movies - VS has none yet. I just left the code in case we made one somedya (GG does use it).

It's not so much something to test as it is something to laugh at. This odd save file was created when it crashed one time.
Also, I'm still getting C++ Runtime Errors. It says its being terminated in an unusual manner.

Re: Regular crashes on Win7 [0.5.1r1]
I'm also having regular CTD crashes.
My system is a Dell Latitude ATG D630 running
Windows 7 Ultimate
32 Bit OS
Intel Core Duo T7300 @ 2 Ghz/2 Ghz
Mobile Intel 965 Chipset
3 G RAM
No video card
Compatibility seems to be a moot point....tried every combination with no success.
When it CTD's, the only fix I've found is to turn the graphics to Retro...then load a save game...launch and either make a run with the clunky graphics, or land, save & exit, then turn the graphics BACK UP again and fly till it zonks out again.
For some reason, even w/ the graphics turned up, all I can see of most bases is part of the outlines...makes landing at the mining base a real nightmare.
I had another glitch last night that's an even bigger nightmare.....while trying to Save Game, there was like a static pop on the screen, and now no matter WHICH saved game I try to load, I find myself floating helplessly in space in a fried ship with no equipment whatsoever, with retro graphics from the dawn of time, when dinosaurs roamed the highway.
At the time the event occurred, I was parked at a KLIKK Diplomatic Center. I can't remember the name of the system..... P something, 2 over from the starting system.
BTW I like the tutorial upgrade with what's his name (Owen?)offering to freshen your flying skills. Need a way to turn him off though....he turned up to hassle me to let him help me again when I passed back through Cephid17, then went off in a huff when I blew him off

Re: Regular crashes on Win7 [0.5.1r1]
Okay I finally found a happy medium that lets me play without crashing:
1 G Ram/1 G Swap; my sound only;
low detail; 1024 OFF; no shader support;
1440 x 900; 16 bit color fullscreen;
accelerated visual off
running as "ADMIN" compatibility Windows XP Service Pack 3; 256 colors; visual themes disabled
>on a completely different note, I've noticed that the Confed officer is BIPOLAR!!! Or is it schizophrenic?
Sometimes he tries to give Pirate or Merchant missions (when he's in the bar w/ one of them the two of 'em switch personalities....when he's by himself you never know who he really is).
