0.5.1 Windows 7 slight problem with opening [Solved Here]
The program all installed fine, no problems were reported, yet I double click to open the game, and nothing happens.
I am running:
Windows 7
Nvidia Gefoce G210M - CUDA 512MB
Intel Core 2 Duo "inside"
If this is simply because the new version is in it's early stages for release, that may explain it, but there is the report anyway.
Note: The setup appears to work fine.

Firstly, 5.1 or 5.1 r1 (The one just released today)? Secondly, were stderr and stdout files generated? If so post them. Frequently a dxdiag report is also requested. That information should give the resident bug squashers the info they need to help you out.

Re: 0.5.1 Windows 7 slight problem with opening
Well. After a few minutes in my "thought mode" [<-- nifty device I have for solving almost any problem, which my friends say insane people typically have then pause, realizing I am in fact so] I found out it was on me to "Run as administrator". I didn't think of this because the previous version never required it. Anyway, yeah it's 0.5.1 R1 [or as it was said as to be such on the sourceforge download page.]
It now opens and I can see all controlls when pressing Esc key, and there's a guy who talks to me for a tutorial of flight which is quite nifty if I might say.

Weird, you shouldn't need administrator mode anymore.

I believe it's the matter that it now installs in "Program Files 86" [as opposed to the older Program Files folder which is used for older programs] Which on most windows 7 computers often requires Administrative permission. The older version of VS Installed in the normal Program Files, while this one is in the Program Files 86 folder. My computer has both as it is made to support both newer programs and older ones.klauss wrote:Weird, you shouldn't need administrator mode anymore.

Would that be Win7 64bit then Pirate as I run the 32bit version and have no need to run it in admin mode, though a few of Ubisoft's old titles seem to need it(LockOn,Flanker 2.5).

My experience has been that "Programs" is for 64bit compatible (the new system) while "programs x86" is 32 bit (old) as such, the simple existence of "programs x86" indicates to me that he is running 64 bit.

Oh, Right! I always get those confused... Anyway, all I know for absolutely sure is that most programs that get installed into Program Files 86 typically require me to give administrative permissions.
Oh, and I run Windows 7 64 Bit.

There are 64-bit binaries for Linux but ATM there none for Win7 64-bit,I have been trying to build my own Win exe for a while now but am still stuck compiling Python 2.7 so I can get new dll's compatible with VSC2010 Express.

Yeah, I haven't done much work on getting a win64 binary built with VC9. I have the VS side done, just need to finish the libraries.

New Found problem/Bug report on 0.5.1R1. It seems the program only opens every 5 or 6 times I double click it. I know it's an early release, so you can throw this in the bug reports file.
And yes even while using "Run as Administrator"

Please, create a bug report in SF's tracker, and attach the usual output (stdout, stderr) of failed attempts.
There's already a report by log0 that gives a rather precise clue into why it needs administrator mode, and it may fix many issues in win7 too.

Actually, that's desirable if you want to receive update notifications, but you can submit an anonymous report just the same.loki1950 wrote:That's the souceforge bug track part of the resources provided by our host here's the URL http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_i ... tid=119507 you will need to have a souceforge account apart from your forum account to post on the bug tracker.
