Yeah, after trying to wear in my brand new VS, I'm... somewhat getting the hang of it. Now of course I could constructively rant on about VS and all compared to other games, but for the time being, this game has potential but has a lot to go a long ways to accomplish. In anycase, I've finally found the configuration file which to painstakingly modify my own set of keys. Problem is, I can't get the "ctrl" key button to function as the primary weapon weapon firing trigger. I've nullified all other commands that used this particular key, still to no avail. Is there something about the ctrl key I should know about that I'm not aware of?
Here is my computer info.
Mac Mini 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Mac OS X 10.5.6
Pretty much the way it came when it was bought, though in the future I'm planning to max out my RAM.

Re: Ah the "ctrl" key
Sorry, the control key does not work on the Mac yet. it is a bug somewhere in the SDL library that we use for keyboard/mouse input.
So you're just going to have to make do with other keys for now.
By the way, if you are looking at ways to upgrade your machine, I highly recommend getting 2GB of RAM (2 sticks of 1gb each, not sure what the maximum amount allowed on the Mac Mini is). A year ago you could get 667MHz ram pretty cheap if it happened to be on sale.

Thanks for the help. I guess it sucks for now that the ctrl key won't work until the issue's resolved.

Welcome Coraxus if it's any consolation the windows guys can't use the "alt" just a hunch but it may be tied to the version that is available for each platform.

Re: Ah the "ctrl" key
Thanks for the bit of info. BTW I figured out why I was unable to assign the orignal barrel roll keys to something else. It appears that the name of the keys are literally written out LOL. Do you know how long before a real genuine built-in preference will be available on VS?

Re: Ah the "ctrl" key
It really depends on the devs free time which they don't seem to have ATM but stripping out user preferences from the config file has been accepted as necessary so it will happen but the timing is problematic as always.
