can not jump?

I forked out the credits for the jump drive and pressed j while sitting in the middle of a blue ball with distance less than 100 and flat, but did not jump. Am I missing something?

Make sure that you're inside the blue ball, and not outside. If your distance is greater than zero, you're still outside. To be inside the blue ball, your distance must be a negative number!
