Problem with escort mission

Post by c^2 »

I just discovered VS today, and I must say that I'm quite impressed so far. For a work in progress, it's great.

The only real issue I've run into so far is that I can't figure out how to make ships I'm escorting follow me. If I take a mission to escort a ship from, say, the starting mining base to a large cargo ship or a truck thats a realitivly short distance away, I can never get my escortee to follow me once I've autopiloted to the destination.

Well, it will follow, as in it always tries to point at me, but it will never get close enough to the truck or cargo ship for the mission to finish. I can fall into formation right next to the destination ship, and the escortee will keep getting farther and farther away. Sometimes it will look like it's catching up, but once it gets to around 10000m it will start falling back again. If I request permission to dock with the target and stop, so will the escortee... 10000m away.

Is there a command that can be issued to the escortee to make him form up closer, or dock to the destination on his own?

he's supposed to follow you--if you have the computer setting to 1GHz, then perhaps it won't work all the time

we just fixed the bug in CVS--
however...if you're stuck with the nromal source...then just turn down the speed of the computer and yuou should notice the escortee following you and following you through jumps

we have a workaround if you download the latest escort_mission.py
however backup the old one in the modules/ directory
