[Mission] Fighters vs Capship

Post by Keiichi »

Hi

I am working on a very simple mission, just to test VS a bit. While my mission (a group of custom dostoevsk(confed)(default AI) vs an archimdes(aera)(default AI)) basicly works, I encountered several problems :

a) The Archimedes is faster then my dostoevsky, so I had to set all thrusters to a 1/10th of what they used to be in the default. The Maneuver settings seem to be ok.

b) The Archimedes behaves like a light fighter, except the ultra-slow turning. Is there a suitable AI for CapShips?

c) If I order my wingmen to attack the archimedes, it does not fire back on them. Solution?
If I fire on the Archimedes, it tries to kill me.

d) If I order my wingmen to attack, they attack even if they are WAY out of their weaponrange. Solution?

e) The Archimdes tries to target me with its CapShip Missles, even if the launcher is on the other side of the ship. It is basicly shooting itself. (IMHO CapShip Missles should be for CapShips/Bases/Escorts/bigstuff and not my little fighter. The Archimedes has PointDefense Weapons anayway, so way waste them on me?)

f) I seems that you can give units order by specifying <order> in the <flightgroup>. Does it work? (seen no effect so far) Any documentation except Sourcecode?

g) A big group of fighters (my wingmen in that case) shoot themselves when fireing at the archimedes.

h) Sometimes they even attack each other when one of them destroyed a target. (even if the target was hostile)

i) What determines if a flightgroup is hostile? The faction setting alone?

j) Is there ANY documentation which is uptodate regarding VS files in general?

I believe the capships use the "macho" AI--it turns towards a target and heads until weapons are in range
you can edit the macho AI yourself
or you can make your own AI...maybe just have the capship fly straight?

Are your wingmen allied to the archimedes? maybe it thinks you're a hihger threat

as for the waepns range--perhaps they are in one of their missile's range

in python you should be able to give the flightgroups orders
but in the .mission file you can't

you can tell your wingmen to form up
perhaps they were just heading to the same point and weapons hit by mistake

you can check the wiki for better docu
