0.4.3 Cargo patch(MAKES TRACTOR BEAM ACTUALLY PICK UP CARGO)
The generic cargo boxes that appear upon ejection of cargo, of the explosion of cargo carrying ships, were unfortunately deleted shortly before release. Thus players are unable to tractor in any cargo floating through space.
A data patch for this has now been made available:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/vega ... p?download
Installation:
--- Windows ---
+ Extract the .zip into the main vegastrike data directory (the one that contains factions.xml)
--- Linux ---
+ As the user you installed Vegastrike as, extract the .zip into the main vegastrike data directory (the one that contains factions.xml)
--- OSX ---
+ Find where you installed Vegastrike.app (probably Applications/). In Finder, right click (or cntrl-click) on Vegastrike.app and select "View Contents".
+ Double click on Contents, and then Resources. You should be able to see a file named factions.xml. Unzip the patch, and drag it into this folder.
Once that is done, the cargo boxes should appear in-game as normal. Sorry for the extra hassle this has caused.

cargo patch installation
My question is about installing the cargo patch on OS X.
I know the post says to put it in the factions.xml foler, but there is no folder there, just the xml sheet. So if i make a factions folder and put both the cargo patch and the factions.xml sheet in there will that work?
Or is there another way to do this?
thanks for the help.

I don't understand which folder to put in the resources folder (on the mac). I downloaded the plugin, received a folder called units. I can't put that folder in the resources folder, because there already is a folder called units there.
The plugin looks like this: Units/factions/upgrades/generic cargo/6 files

Basically you want to make sure those 6 files exist in that directory. So units of course exists, so you can't overwrite it (doh, I think I must have written this without a mac), but I believe the upgrades folder doesn't exist. So create it, then create the 'generic cargo' folder in that, then move the 6 files in that.
Then you should be set

All right, this is not working for me. The six files reside at $INSTALLDIR/units/upgrades/generic_cargo, but they don't let me tractor anything in. I get in there and I sit, less than a klick away, beaming away like nothing, and the stuff just sits out there, mocking me. Is this the wrong place or something? If it's at all relevant, this is the Windows version, 0.4.3

@darthbob88 the path should be $INSTALLDIR/units/factions/upgrades/generic_cargo that is the path i have and it works.
