Pontiac´s shipyard
I thought since nearly everyone has his own shipyard i may as well start my own shipyard.
I may be not as skilled as the others, but i had fun making the ships/models.
So here it is:
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/users/pontiac/models/
There is a big assortment of old/new/bad/good models in there so ..... oh just see for yourself
Though there are not pic for all of the ships, some are only there as wings file.
The newest ship is this one:

Pontiac
PS: All models are free to use if you want to.

Yes, I understand, texturing is the main problem for many modelers, it's funky to make the meh itself, but, well, texturing, it's really boring, and it's really long and boring. The easiest way I found is drawing with a pen on an exported EPS, but otherwise you should look for some gimp/photoshop actions, it's really usefull and fast to fill big areas, some little emboss/darken after and your texture is ok
I see dead polygons....

For modelling purpose i just make my changes on one part and copy it 2 times each 4 units along the Z axis. I dont combine the three parts since i will not do that in vs. There i will try to use the subunit tag to place one mesh 3 (or more) times.Major wrote:I was experimenting around with the catfish and tried to make it longer.
When merging in one piece: do you just move it to the rest of the ship or is there a command to put the pieces together?
I hope that was what you meant,
Pontiac
PS: there are variationsXX.wings files in the directory which i made with older versions of the catfish showing some variants with more or less pieces (even a double-body ship).

First you must have wings3d with the installed .xmesh converter plugin.Irishman wrote:once u download how can u use it in the game

Then you have to export the model into xmesh and create a new
directory with the name of the ship in the units/ directory of your vegastrike dir.
Here is a more detailed overview:
