Hi hellcatv.
I have tried it with sound off and music on and it still crashes,I even tried with music off, same.
Still has the minimizing to tool bar problem also.
It may interst you that some weeks ago I tried Vegastrike and had the same crash problems.I think it is all to do with ATI drivers because I usually get the
black screen on monitor and have to restart computer. Does this help at all???

Hi Hellcatv

Basically it goes to black screen as if monitor was on standby Ctrl ALT DEL does not work at this point the only way to recover is reboot computer.
Now the continua’s minimizing to tool bar is the weirdest part, but in a nut shell that’s what happens.
If you need me to email you any crash reports, I will ,just tell me what you need ,I really want to try this game .
OOOO one thing I fergot to mention when I first load the game the screen is
full of horizontal lines and all garbled ,it clears up when you get to the splash screen. ???

Thanks in advance

if you have to reboot it's a driver bug and nothing I can do about it.

if it crashes to desktop then it's likely my fault--or a driver bug that I can work around (both have occured multiple times)

Sapphire Radeon 9100

Sapphire Radeon 9100 works on Linux, but I had to set the R200_NO_CODEGEN environment variable. Without it the display often locks up and only the reset button helps. It may be an issue with the DRI driver.

ATI Radeon 7500 mobility, DRI: missing textures/backgrounds

Post by Kai (guest) »

ATI radeon 7500 on 2 GHz P4 mobile, 512 MB : works fine under Win XP, even with sound.

Linux: SuSE 8.1, upgraded to XFree 4.3; DRI installed;
at certain color depths, the game works, but very slowly (driver cannot cope with color depth and apparently switches to software rendering). At depth = 16, the game works fast, yet all backgrounds and textures are missing (only polygons visible on white background).

Sound (effects) works regardless.

I hope I can get that running (help please!)

And Thanks for a great game!!!

riva tnt2 pci working with issues

Post by wirser »

os- fedora core2 linux
processor: athlon 1ghz
motherbd abit kt7-raid w via chipset
video nvidia riva/tnt2 32mb
working under nvidia driver (the one that normal video can't use)
so I have to keep a second /etc/X11/xorg.conf to run vegastrike
sometimes at startup if I mess with window resize/min/max I noticed the game will run slower after that until the game finishes loading when nothing changes in framerate
I have agp issues I have yet to solve it appears
in 3d mode(nvidia driver) non-3d not properly refreshing
standard xorg driver for card works 2d welll, layers and all
getting this working is not the highest of my priorities
new card sounds good too

VS 0.4.2 and Matrox G400

Post by Lux »

CPU: AMD Atholn 700Mhz
MoBo: Asus K7M
RAM: 512Mb
Matrox G440 DualHead MAX 32Mb
OS: Mandrake 10.1 Community

VS 0.4.2 rebuilded from source running fine and playable (just responding slow in combat mode) in 16bpp color OpenGL windowed mode with MAX details at 1024x768 in X.Org 6.7.0 accelerated using mga_drv.o (DRI extensions shipped with X.Org, not the matrox one. It sucks), mga_hal_drv.o (maybe it's not necessary for VS), mga.o and agp-k7gart (Kernel compiled-in modules).

glxgears rated my Matrox ~820 FPS

Well, to say the truth, the CPU is a little overclocked: 735Mhz (5% overclocking the bus freq). PCI clock and other stuff tuning in order to avoid system hang.

S3G Unichrome on board chipset

Post by max wright »

Vega Strike crash on load.

After working on the problem and searching around the internet I have fould that the S3G UniChrome chipset has problems not only with vegastrike but also with a long list of other games.

Had a quick look at the viaareana website, which has a long list of people who are upset with the s3g Unichrome chipset.

I can only wonder why Compaq and Hp for that matter would chose to package a via chipset in there systems. VIA = CRAP

I could go on but hey i am only one person.

Iam of the the shops to purchase a decent video card because iam sick of fighting with drivers and different games to get them working.

Cant wait to play vega strike - heard a lot of good things about it

Well we'd be happy to work with you to try to find a workaround

what OS do you use? if you use win2k then it's easy you can send us your c:/windows/system32/drwtsn32.log

if not I think you need to run c:/windows/system32/drwtsn32.exe
and then set it to dump logs...
and then send us the log after you run VS and it dies

s3g unichrome problems

Post by Guest »

Thanks for your help.

I have installed a voodo something card and vegastrike works however my computer is a Off the shelf Compaq Persario SR1208AN. Less then 2 months old. It might help some other users if you can find a workaround or a patch or something. Hence I have removed the card again.

What I have tryed

First i tryed changing the settings as you had told other people with problems relating to the windows has encountered a problem error message window. No luck

Then when to the compaq site and updated video drivers, bios and the audio drivers. These must be the correct/current drivers as compaq site related drivers to computer Id. ie the sr1208an

still didnt work so i tryed a gernic via driver that was sugested in the via forums which has solved problems with other opengl games.

tryed changing the settings again - it didnt help

here is a list of what windows sayes in its error report

error signature

Appname :vegastrike.exe Appver 0.4.2.0 modname: vticd.dll
Modver :6.14.10.194 offset:000c3e96

iam getting the other details you asked for now

it seems like it's crashing somewhere in the driver

I think you need to give us the drwtsn32.log file
and if you have xp you'll need to run
c:/windows/system32/drwtsn32.exe and configure it to make a log file

then paste the crashy info from that
