all your ships can have steltek guns

Post by A-Bomb »

Start the main plot line in New Detroit and visit Eden system via Valhalla sometime after. Bring lots of cash as the retro base in Eden sells steltek equipped Salthis for 400k. Have your new Salthi shipped to your favorite base and strip it down. I've found them not very useful for anything except their armament so I sell them back to recoup my expenses. Do this several times and you can have a Centurion and a Demon with four, count 'em, FOUR steltek guns. Talons will drop from one well placed blast and most other fighters won't last long with their tendency to go head-on against the player. It almost makes the game too easy but it's satisfying to brush aside three or four bandits in one head-on pass.

i love the dumbfire missels.

i try to launch one into the center of a fighter cluster and blow up two ships and damage more.

fusion and plasma gun combo does a good job as well.

i like dog fights with the dralties. the talon are to jumpy...

Yeah, but the boosted Steltek gun is better and the MassSteltek is not very powerful. It is cool how you can get your money back. I think there is a better way to do this, but I'll let you play the game and figure it out.

I'm still wondering where he found a store.

BTW, in the original, if you edited yourself to Eden (using PREdit, for example) it showed up as a farm planet and you could buy grain (but nothing else) in the store. That was an interesting quirk.

Just tell us your secret.

I tried it and it didn't work... the Temple is really nice though...

***Spoiler*** Mark text to read:

I wondered why the systems (eden+ the jump to rikel) don't appear on my map after I have visited them. Happens so with the thread to delta prime... :?

The areas you visit as part of the original plot are added to the system by Taryn Cross.

No-one adds Eden or the Jump to Rikel because the retros paid off certain people to have them removed from the maps. Presumably, fly-boy doesn't know how to reprogram his nav maps...

decided without really looking at the weapon specs that i wanted 2 Steltek and 2 MassStelteks on my Centurion and, well, they're a bit rubbish. it's cool cos theyre green but i think both Tachyons and Fusions are better but now i cant bring myself to sell them after all that effort and expense in getting them

Salthis are rubbish too

so what's so great about them, theyre not immensely fast, immensely hard, they dont have a great missile loadout (from what i remember), the guns arent "all that" and they cost 400000.

im aware this is somewhat hypocritical as i'm ranting in another topic about how i'm getting creamed by them at the moment but i dont really rate them all that much

they are an challange to yourself...

I also tried it with a full kitted Talon, but this really sucked... One enemy in your rear you don't notice at once and you are toast... :D

In some way... kind of Zen...
If you can fly withou a ship you got it... A talon is kind of flying without a ship... hehe you see, I don't got it... and as it seems... I'll never have it... this sickens me! And I don't even own a velour uniform...

Half the fun is taking a different ship and learning to fly it to the very utmost.

Some of the ships are GREAT. Some are real dogs. The dogs make you LEARN to fly all over again.

As soon as you get complacent in a ship, swap over to another. Fly them and learn. Then go back to your Centurion. You won't believe how much better you got.
