The groups are strange. 19-25 does not say much, if you want to learn something abaout people and their circumstanzes (sp?) of life (IMO, of course)... ;)

25 is the limit for 'youth' eurail passes in europe

reallyy ticked me off when i went there at 26 with a 25 yr old friend... i had to pay 1300 and they got off with 800 for 2 months

19-25 is still not quite an adult i think... (at least to insurance companies anyways)

I don't know how it works in the states, but in Germany (I was tended to say Europe, but I didn't... ) the situation of life differs between 19+20 and 21-25 a lot. Most pleople do their Abitur, which is kind of somthing like your Hhighschool diploma with 20. Then go to university or start to work... and somewhere between there is military or civil service. You see, at least for Germans teh cathegaroy 19-25 doesn't make much sence because too much changes. And arno, I kind I thought it's more or less the same in France (though you guys only have a professional army, right) ... you are from France, right?

@Kangaroo22: Capricorns! I'd like a Llama for my bday! And I'll send you something... my Rlaan Chitty-Chitty Boom-Boom Cargo probably. :D

Our education here in the Philippines - We have nursery, Kindergarten 1 & 2, Elementary School (Grades 1 to 6), Highschool (4 years). We graduate from highschool at 16. Go to college, and expect to graduate from college at 20 or 21. :) I think most asian nations graduate earlier than westerners. Wouldn't know, though. And I have shifted courses (From Biology), so I'm still a first year ComSci College student.
We also don't leave our parent's homes immediately after age of "innocence". :) We help out our parents until we get married, find work in far places, or at least graduate from college.

I've never understood why westerners leave their parents ASAP and live as faaaaar away as possible. :?:

1, in the states youre pretty much considered a bum if you live with your parents after age 19

2, our parents SUCK! :D seriously tho, the filipino culture is WAY more family oriented than that of the states... (altho, alot of friends and family back home have never left their home states IN THEIR ENTIRE LIVES! like they may have been to a neighboring state or 2 but thats it.... 3 states out of 50.... for the past 20 + years? youve got to be kidding me... and you can even DRIVE to 49 of them.... aussies are way better at travelling... you can go anywhere in the world and run in to one :D )

fun fact: only 10% of americans have passports... and half of those are for buisness... and the rest of the world wonders why we are so stupid to global politics and elect certan hitler-esqe figures...

I'd never dream of thinking that, much less saying it... :D

Hitler-esque. haha. Our politicians here are basically merchants who view politics as additional source of revenue.

Filipinos are forced to travel abroad though. Find work. The economy here SUCKS!

FYI: The lead vocalist of The Black Eyed Peas is filipino. ;)
FYI: The Yo-Yo? It originated from the Philippines! And get this.... It was a weapon!
FYI: Ever wondered who killed Magellan? We're actually proud of having killed that SOB. :) His name was Lapu-Lapu, and he was a humble chieftain of Mactan.

in the states, the typical progression is like this:
kindergarten
elementry school (grades 1-5)
Middle school (grades6-8 )
High School (grades 9-12)
most kids gragitate at 18 and start colledge the next year and get out in between 22 and 24...

as far as psychological development, yes 19-25 is a BROAD category in any culture (based solely on human development) but considering the few ppl who have actually answered the poll, um... probably doesnt matter much

its also kewl that in the states, you can kill other human beings and die for your country at age 18, but the GREAT SATAN that is alcohol cant be handled responsibly till youre 21

unfortunately, you can say that about many, many people who call themselves parents in this country :( as i said, its a pretty big cultural difference... community is far less connected in the states... (unless youre in some pretty rural areas... like the one i came from... )
Oblivion wrote:Hitler-esque. haha. Our politicians here are basically merchants who view politics as additional source of revenue.
ours seemingly think politics are methods for invading other countries for their resources... while limiting the rights of its citizens...(but i forgot... jesus is on OUR side..... ...... ..... riiiight)

He probably switched to your side after hanging out with the 17th century spaniards. They destroyed most of our culture
a.for God
b.for Glory
c.for Gold

;)

:) Still like BEP though. Though I don't really like rap. I'm more alternative rock, punk, ska, and reggae (sometimes). Ya mon!

And shhh don't spread the secrets of the deadly Yo-Yo..
It's a specialty of our assassins. ;)

And he probably killed Magellan coz he was ruuude.
Pre-colonial filipinos were already trading regularly with China and the Middle East. As opposed to westerner's first approach to any foreigner:
"Where is the spice! I want the spice and I'll give you this wonderful thing called Christianity!"

Seriously, I have noticed this among tourists. Their whole attitude seem to imply that just because we're smaller and don't speak their language as fluently as they'd like, we're inferior. Not all though. :) But I think it's that kind of attitude plus insistence in meddling with affairs of other governments that spawned a lot of Anti-Americanism. I'm all Pro-World-Unification though. haha. But tourists are kinda like that.

You heard of Manny Pacqiao? He was pretty big here in the Philippines. Boxing is a sport we excel at. :D Though I'd sooner box myself than box someone else. I practice a more delicate art... called RunningAway

and smallpox... dont forget smallpox (almost as deadly as christianity)
Oblivion wrote:Seriously, I have noticed this among tourists.
tourists from any country are a few steps below stupid idiotic rertrards... drunk americans are a few steps behind most of them....

tourists want to take pictures and claim 'they were there'
travellers actually want to learn about and interact with a culture. and usually treat people with a little known trait called respect...

never liked boxing.... not really the violent type and the fine sacred art of runningaway is not to be dismissed out of hand :D

What's a GEN yer? Am I a GEN year. I've got 3 grenade launchers, a couple of Steyr Aug rifles, five frags, 2 concussions, and a flashbang, and I'm planning to buy a new M1A1, as my versions old already. know of any good arms dealers?
