I noticed yesterday, and thought it might be on my end (ie: borked ISP maybe). He just wrote telling me the same, so I guess it's not. I already got into the recovery console to figure it out, if it's anything like the last blackout, it's a RAID error again. Fucking thing is breaking every few days.

PS: don't pardon my swearing. I'm entitled. :-p

I never understood why PU and Vega Trek maintain and use the forums over there instead of the ones available for their projects over here. But it seems like there's more and more reasons for them to come back.

Yeap. A while back, the server there was VERY stable. But nowadays... and it seems hardware related, and the provider doesn't acknowledge it.

Now i hope that klauss fix the problem.

For the downtime i that i had on this server was more a broking backup script and a full backup server.

Um... can you share the script?

I was writing one for wcjunction, but I could draw inspiration from yours, since I'm not entirely sure what needs backing up on the forums (I'm thinking the database... not sure anything else is needed).

Of course, strip users and passwords and send by PM?

web pages and database should be it. SVN as well if that ever gets an update.

I could restore it in a minute, if I still had access. I lost the access keys when I changed jobs, because I shredded lots of sensible files and thought I had backed up WCJunction's access keys but I hadn't. I asked chuck for a reset, but he's been having trouble contacting 1&1.

The problem per se is simple to fix. The RAID array gets degraded, and it's just a matter of booting a recovery OS, waiting for the array to rebuild, and reboot back into normal mode.
