Let the flames roll in...
Err... yeah, well I suppose you can talk about other stuff as well, maybe?

Quote of the Day

Post by pincushionman »

This forum needs a Quote of the Day.

Here are the rules:
1) Avoid quotes that will offend people.
2) "$%#" out expletives.
3) Any explanation offered that describes the context of the quote will be in normal text, while the quote itself must be bold.
4) This is a quote of the DAY -- there may be only one quote per calendar day according to the forum clock (that is, GMT). However, feel free to comment on the quotes as much as you like.

Just follow the format of the first quote and you'll be cool.

From my Glee Club director to the bass section, when they were not singing with the "manly" tone they should:

"You usually sing like bears. Now you're singing like squirrels. Like the tenors. They always sound squirrely. But now the squirrels are the bears and the bears are the squirrels -- and they're all looking for their nuts!

Here are a couple good quotes for ya, from this site:

Where a calculator on the ENIAC is equipped with 19,000 vacuum tubes and weighs 30 tons, computers in the future may have only 1,000 vacuum tubes and perhaps only weigh 1.5 tons.
- Popular Mechanics, March 1949.

I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.
- Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943.

"The great saints of God went to extraordinary lengths to preserve their purity. St. Benedict rolled in the briars; St. Francis of Assisi rolled in the snow; St. Bernard plunged into a pond."
