At first I thought that was some image from an anime until I saw it was from VS. Any idea what ship was trying to park?

A rather large one that wound up exploding and taking me with it... I unfortunately don't remember, but it was an amusing incident!

I always use the large docking clamp down at the bottom of the fighter bases lots of ships are too big for those chutes on the sides
you can also do a faster approach with out worrying about getting a bloody nose

good thing isn't it? Means the graphics are of high enough quality to compete!
Oddly ships seem to do this on a fairly regular basis despite repeated attempts to smarten them up. Is amusing to watch though.

Capship explosion is likely to kill almost anything in its radius. Which is the only reason not to buy Grav Thumpers.
But by default NPC don't collide, so if both docking units explode, probably a capship launched torpedo at someone else and hit the other guy point-blank.

I think NPC ships aren't honoring the docking port's size limits. We should fix that, it shouldn't take too much effort.
