Call me picky, but I'd appreciate if you merged all those posts, Spiff. Once or twice... but it's getting tiresome. It seems excessive.

I am going to start to prune this forum. There is no reason to keep the history longer then a 2 or 3 months.

Selectively or automatically?
There are some threads with neat stuff. Or there might be.
Can't remember (that's the idea of preserving them - for the ones we can't remember, rather than the ones we do).
Like in Music section, that debate with Ken about structuring content.

Well your a moderator. Delete them manually. I can care less

"This will delete any topic which has not been posted to within the number of days you select. If you do not enter a number then all topics will be deleted. It will not remove topics in which polls are still running nor will it remove announcements. You will need to remove those topics manually."

I am not sure about stickys

Well it was a try. But if you don't like it I'll leave it.

@Matt: Do whatever you feel is OK. I was going to browse the music forum for things that merit backup, and to be honest I hadn't realized how much work it would be until I tried that.
So... it's ok, I bet I can remember or have backup already of anything important enough.

I clean up about 1/2 of it. see what’s left and I will delete anything from before the start of this year that you don’t want to keep.

It would be nice to keep, from the old threads:

Speech and Sound = 4086
Any music requests? = 5483

Mostly because they have useful, current guidelines that can be used as reference to contributors.

Perhaps I should extract the guidelines and create a sticky - I'll see about that. In the meantime, if you're cleaning up, try to preserve those.

Klaus, I was only talking about pruning the off topic section not the entire site.

Ohhh...
...in that case, go right ahead.

I think I cleared out most of the junk stuff, but can you take a look and delete or promote any thread you think are relevant in the off topic section, (yes I know that is a contradiction)

Back to the topic of the thread...

going through today's new acquisitions. Just finished up listening to the White Stripes' Elephant twice through, now I'm moving on to my new Radiohead album, Hail to the Thief. I guess I'm a little behind the times- always have been I suppose. Good stuff though.

BTW, I don't know if the idea is this good. I'd keep it at least half a year. A year might be better. Reason is this: There was a lot talk about this place dying. But IMO, every good online community also has a strong off-topic section. It's like going for a drink wit your co-workers in the evening. And IMO it's kind of important to keep it's history. Especially if there is not so much history to keep at all.
Is there any problem with the size of the board?

Hello

That spaceman_spiff exaggerates sometimes, na ja egal.

But I like to have my football thread inside and not delated until the next championships, european or world.
If not I start a new one in 2008 or 2010.

The band I hear now:Archie Bronson Outfit
With their song: Dead Funny
