I was thinking, since I'm a an old player of "Homeworld" which its source is now available and that the game had asteroid harvesting in it, why would it not be impossible to combine the two game (or at least the harvesting side to it)? The use is similar to Captain{}Blood idea of a magnetic vacuum (but watered down a bit). http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/forum ... php?t=8231

On the other hand, I've been playing battlecruser 3000AD recently the harvesting is done by droids roaming on the surface of a planet (requires planet fall)... (i better not go on about the features in BC3kAD there is a lot of them, the UI is crap though... Gah! I'm Raving on about another Game! {shoots self}

now, if I was any good at python, I would attempt doing this idea of mine(ing... oh kill the pun), but I'm still on chapter 2 in "Python for dummy's"

Ooh, sorry for resurrecting a 8-9 month old post too, I just had to put my say into this one... :-P shoot me if you must...

... well, its going to be the beta now, if it runs on my x23 stinky-top, (256MB ram with a 2 or 8MB mobile radeon 7000 and 866Mhz system :? )...

tell you the truth, the last time i tried vega strike was way back on 2004-05 when it came out on a CD for a mag, then the next there after was with privateer remake last year... if the asteroids on VS are as chaotic as PR, then theres a little issue there: they move, to mine them they should be stationary, but i haven't played this game is such a long time i really don't know that much about it.... :oops:

That mag was it Linux Format if so that's where i first got it as well 8) the beta should run on your system with the eye candy toned down. yeah the asteroids still move about but that can be changed quite easily check out the Cyphid 17a jump point it is in the middle an asteroid field for an example of the current behavior that's in the starting system.

Enjoy the Choice :)
