There is a screensaver known as Strat Wars floating around that simulates space dogfights. It is not open-source (shareware), but the models and textures on the goodies section of the page do not seem to be confined to the screensaver.

There are nebula and planet textures and images, a frigate model (more like capship), and some more models at http://stratwars.crazythought.net/binar ... .7.5B1.zip . There are also models for Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and Wing Commander.

Speaking of Strat Wars, This page has some Strat Wars scenarios with TIE fighters vs. some interesting looking Rebel ships, the 'Broadsword' and the 'Banshee'

But why does the author of Strat Wars have to keep all of these ships secret (ie. that three-winged ship with the lasers, DS9 and the other station, the new asteroids, three ships that I cannot identify, etc.)?
