Running into big things

When Vega Strike was in version 4.3 (or so), I would plow into bigger ships sometimes (so I saved after every success/good thing :P ). And I usually died instantly and loaded my saved game. Anyone here do that before?

Lots of times but it won't happen in 0.5 :D as the way ships spawn has been changed all ships are now created before you enter a system(that wait at the jump point) although if you decide to ram a ship or station don't except to survive

Enjoy the Choice :)

I meant any type of crash, whether a last effort to defeat an enemy, accidental, or just not expected (another ship in the same jump point!!!).

I have survived using the ramming tactic with a Derivative with heavy shields and the best armer ran out of missiles and the bad guy was to close so i rammed for a while collisions where elastic and you would bounce   with no damage.

Enjoy the Choice :)

In 0.50, I no longer run into ships that appear in front of me. I still occasionally crash and burn under 2 rare circumstances:

* when I jump to another system at the same time someone in the other system is jumping to mine

* when I have a cargo mission that requires me to dock with another ship who won't drop out of SPEC (that part is very common with contraband missions), I chase him all over the system and, rarely, I catch him and collide

Target it and then Alt-0 (Request to dock). For me the ship drops out of SPEC and comes to a complete stop. The manual says, it stays there for about 20s. So I hit Alt-0 each 10s or so ...

Hope that helps.

lol i'm using 5.0 and i docked in an ox when i saw a group them near a fighter baracks, when i got out again one of the other oxen was trying to dock in the small fighter entrance and taking heavy damage because it was stuck but not moving fast enough to simply blow up the base and it's self, i docked in the easy access capship entrance (i've always prefered that one when it come to non-fighter ships of any kind) undocked later and the ox was free but had no shieldleft and very little armour. you'll need to work on that one i think.

That's really an AI problem as that is what defines how NPC ships behave at any time. It most likely can not tell the difference between docking points ie. there size or orientation.

Enjoy the Choice :)

I do miss the "hybrid Bases" that would spawn into each other in 4.3.
